Jen didn't know which had been scarier--the demon wolf's lunge or her mom's expression when she found what her daughter and her friends were up to! Actually, she did know--definitely Charlene! If Akira, currently in Japan, had known about Charlene's reaction to Jen's "gift" he (or she, Akira/Akane believed that genders were like bedsheets--best when changed frequently) would have felt a cold chill down his or her spine as well!
Marry's parents, when they found out the next day, were even more upset. Their church had told them that all of the new supernatural manifestations were demonic, and as far as they were concerned Jen and Allison had caused their daughter to be possessed by demons. She was exorcised and strictly forbidden to associate or play with Jen and Allison, and her family began looking for a private or better yet, religious school for her to attend. They threw the necklace in the trash, after their pastor had prayed over it in an attempt to remove the demonic taint. Marry cried and cried, but it was useless.
As for the two remaining members of Magical Girl club, they tried to get through the next month as best they could. In addition to her school work, Allison had the project of learning how to be female. She spent the time not doing homework or chores reading books on the subject of womanhood. So much to learn! She also sneaked in some magical girl manga, hoping that she could learn something to avoid future disasters like the one with the demon wolves.
The nightmares continued, but with diminishing intensity.
Jen was depressed. To have the necklace snatched away! At least she had Allison to play with, but Allison seemed so serious much of the time. She knew her new stepsister was really older than she looked, and sometimes it seemed as if she acted much older than Jen's age. The two of them did bond over manga, though, and the shared hope of reforming Magical Girl Club. Obviously, they would need to train this time. They shared the hope that a trainer would appear.
One day, about three weeks into their grounding, Harry came up to Jen on the playground. He looked very nervous, and cast a glance around to make sure no one was in hearing range. "Please" he whispered "can you make me a magical girl?"
