I stayed awake all night as the feeling of my pony mare self offered strange sensations. Each breath offers scents which till now were just smells to be avoided. Now the odor of each horse's manure is a signature of it's self. How strange from a human thought pattern to identify another by such scents.
The day turned from warm and humid to hot and sticky. The air was gray with high humidity and it made me gasp for air as I walked round. Round and round I walked with four other ponies as children rode our backs.
I'd walked the city park many a time but never notice the petting zoo and the pony rides. Now by some strange salve I've joined the Hungarian Stables and become part of their small zoo of creatures.
The sound of distant thunder brings hope to my soul. The clouds darken as the children and families scurry for cover. The man takes a pony at a time off to the stable. I see my chance and urge the other ponies to step up next for their chance to go to the stable still dry.
Finally my turn has come and the rain has not started to fall. I try to get stuborn and not move but the man understands ponies and knows ways to make me uncomfortable.
I walk slowly and rejoice as the feeling of droplets touch my muzzel. Then a heavy sheet of rain hits and I bolt from the man's hold on my reins. Running with tail held high I make for the park's far side.
The rain feels so cooling as I near the edge of the park and my apartment building. Suddenly I stumble and fall on my face in the mud of a flowerbed. Looking up I see the sanctuary of my human home and wonder if I must now remain a pony mare?
Whether it was the falling or I hit my head the world spins and I pass into blackness.
I hear voices, are they talking about a pony loose in the park or is it about a man injured? Opening my eyes the sight of medical rescue people are wheeling me to an ambulance. I touch my leg and jolt my head up to see with wonder and delight a human hand.
"Easy buddy you've had a bad time today in the park!" said one of my attendants.
Hours later I'm clean, dry and comfortable in a hospital bed when two police enter with a host of questions.
