"I can't believe we have to stay here over Spring Break," Catherine bitched.
"This project isn't going to finish itself," Alexis retorted frustratedly.
"C'mon, y'all, tonight is about relaxing. The guy said this game was a great diversion," Denyse said pitching her light jacket onto the bed. Plopping down in her own floor, she ooohed and aaahed over the elaborate game board with Joy and Faye as Martha extracted the directions. She and Joy and Faye set up the board and assigned pieces.
"It says here that we draw from the deck of real cards as if we were throwing dice. Number cards represent the number of spaces we should move our pieces. And it says that 'Face cards represent changes to be discussed on following pages.'" She looked wonderingly at her circled sisters and returned to the directions. "Then we move as directed and take a card from the other deck. Those cards 'provide their own directions.'"
As she read, Alexis and Catherine mixed and dispersed drinks to their friends. Everyone seemed nonplussed and ready to play, beverages in hand, Joy reaching for the deck first as Martha continued to read and flip pages.
