The girls looked at each other and then the game. Diane reached for the dice but before she could touch them the door opened and Richelle walked in. Richelle had a late class and so was just getting back to the house for the weekend. She stopped short when she saw the girls. At first she looked confused until she spotted the game. Once she did her face took on a dark and stormy look as she said "Not you again."
"Ah Richelle" the board said. "How long has it been? Four years by my calculation. How are you enjoying being a girl?"
"I have gotten used to it no thanks to you" Richelle said.
"You're just in time to join the fun" the board said in a light hearted tone.
"You screwed up my life four years ago" Richelle said. "It took me time to adjust to being a girl."
"Come and play" the board said.
Richelle put her hands on her hips and said "No!"
"Come on Richelle, play with us" Cyndi said.
"Do you know what this game does?" Richelle asked.
"It like, talks" Diane said.
"It's already started messing with your minds" Richelle said crossing her arms and shaking her head sadly. "I won't play the game this time. It screwed with my life before and I'm not eager to repeat the experience."
"Our minds are the same as they have always been" Sue said.
"It's fun" Terri said.
"You're playing and that's that" Joy said in a note of finality. She picked up another token and placed it on the board. "There's your token. Now sit down and play."
Richelle's eye widened and she said "You have no idea what this game is capable of. I WILL NOT play."
"You no longer have a choice" the board said. "Now sit and roll the dice."
"What part of I'm not playing do you not understand?" Richelle asked.
"Sit and play!" the board commanded. "You have a token on the board. You must play."
"I did not place the token on the board" Richelle said. "And don't try your mind tricks on me. They will not work on me now."
"I can still transform you" the board said.
"You can't since I'm not playing" Richelle said. She went over and tried to remove the token Joy had placed on the board. Unfortunately she couldn't remove it. Her eyes widened and she said "No! I said I wasn't playing."
"You came in before Diane rolled again" the board said. "Now there's a token for you on the board. It doesn't matter if you placed it yourself or not. You are playing. So you can either play or feel my wrath. Which will it be?"
Richelle looked at the board and said "Fine! I guess I have no choice but to play."
"A wise choice" the board said. "Be sure not to waste your wish this time if you win."
"I don't consider wishing for Randi to be returned to he original form a waste of my wish" Richelle said.
"Who's Randi?" Cyndi asked.
"A friend of mine I had in high school" Richelle said. "We had started to play this game but she refused to play after she saw the first transformation. The game turned her into one of the tokens for her refusal to play becoming a part of the game."
"That is one of the punishments I can give out for not finishing once you start" the board said with a laugh.
"I already know what my wish will be if I win" Richelle said. "And I won't forget it. I have trained my mind to resist mental changes."
"We will see about that" the board said in a challenging voice.
Richelle reached for the dice and took a deep breath. She would have to be on her guard for little tricks the game might play on her to mentally change her. She knew she would regain her memories once the game was over. When she had won last time she had noticed that everyone had returned to their original forms the had before they played the game. All except her and Randi. She could have used her wish to become male again like she had been before playing the game. Instead she wished Randi would return to her original form. Now she was planning on making sure the game never made it into the sorority house. Using the wish to destroy the infernal game was not a good idea. The magics could go wild and there was no telling what would happen then.
The other girls were looking at her waiting for her to roll. She closed her eyes and hoped no one else would walk in before Diane rolled again. She knew the longer she took to roll the more likely someone would walk in before that. She opened her eyes and rolled. What did she land on though?
