Unable to speak for a while after Circe silenced him, Ken could only follow along after his now-bigger sister. To her credit, Anna did everything she could to make him enjoy the day. They went bike riding (his tricked-out road bike was now a kid's beater) and she let him choose where to go. And then they played in the woods near the house for a while, chasing each other in games that he would have found silly before, but had great fun with today.
They would run into family freinds who accepted the ten year-old Ken as if he'd always been her ilttle brother. However, the oddest part was when a group of boys about nine or ten called to him to come play over at the 'fort'. Anna told him to go on and have fun, and when he joined the boys they all knew him and talked to him like long-time friends. The fort turned out to be a bunch of wooden pallets that had been nailed together in one of the boy's back yards, making a big cube. It wasn't unti they got inside that Ken had the weirdest feeling he'd been here before.
Sure enough there was his name scratched in the wood with the other boys', and he started to 'remember' who they were. Scott, Danny, Eric, Mark, and Johnny. And he was Kenny. They were all in fourth grade together. The longer he stayed, laughing and reading comics, and telling stories to each other, the more he remembered. It wasn;t until a long time had passed that he heard Anna's voice calling him from outside. "Hey, Kenny! Time to come home for dinner." Scrambling up and out of the fort, he saw his big sister waiting for him with a lady he didn;t know.
He came over and looked at the woman curiously. "Who's she?" Anna tried to take his hand, but he wrinkled his nose and pulled away. "I'm a big kid. I don't need to have my hand held." The woman smirked down at him. "Oh, really? You should appreciate the fact that your sister is looking out for you. If not for her, you would be on four hooves, eating slops until you were fat enough to be cut up into pork chops." Kenny frowned, suddenly remembering that he was really much older. Funny thing was, he'd had a great time with his freinds.
Anna grinned. "You used to hold my hand when i was littler. I liked it. But that was when I was littler than you are now."
Circe grinned evilly and squatted down in front of Kenny. "So, did you have fun today?"
Kenny nodded his head, afraid to say anything.
Circe smiled and tousled his hair. "I am so happy! Because..."
