"I know its hard to believe if you never seen it before, but don’t worry you’re not crazy." Cassie laughed. "Come on. We need to get to the first class." Cassie led the changing students back out into the halls.
Rose couldn’t help smiling, excited it was all true. She knew her desire to experience life on the wild side could be fulfilled here, but she couldn’t help but have her nagging doubts. Ever since she signed up for the school she was worried it was some sort of scam, or joke, or something, but now she had the final evidence to prove it was everything she hoped for. She felt around her collar, feeling the fur growing out of her skin. It was short and soft and seemed thicker directly under the collar. She uncharacteristically giggles, unable to wait to see what happens next.
Kurt couldn’t help but stare at his finger, examining his newly longer and shaper finger nails. His family had told the stories about his family wolf’s heritage, but he didn’t believe them. He was shocked when his parents told him he would be attending this school because they said he had enough of his family wolf’s lineage in him, whatever that meant. They said he was the first in the family to be able to go to this type of school in two generations.
Juna had realized this school was not as conventional as she first thought when she applied to it as she scratched at the fur on her face. She was in shock at the changes she and her roommates seemed to be going through, but she thought it was cool too. She figured it must be magic and was extremely excited by the idea of a world where magic existed.
The three students continued to think about their changes as they walked outside to their first class. Cassie brought them to an area next to the surrounding woods. There was another group of three students there already. Two boys and a girl. The girl was wearing a pendant with what looked like an image of an otter head on it. Her fingernails looked longer and sharper similar to Kurt’s. The taller boy was wearing a deer mask with short antler buds on it and the shorter boy was wearing a tiger mask. Both had fur growing from behind their masks. All three seemed just as curious about their bodies as Juna, Kurt and Rose were.
"Just wait for your teacher guys, I’ll be back to pick you up later. Good luck." Cassie said as she hurried off to her own class. The six students stood around awkwardly waiting and not saying anything. Before long a casually dressed man ran up to the students.
"So sorry I’m late. Very inappropriate for the first day, I’ll do better next time." The man said in between breaths. He was wearing a pendant decorated with blue and white feathers. "My name Mr. Haight and I’m the Outdoors instructor. Today will be an introduction where I introduce you to myself and the class and I get introduced to you and your future forms." Mr. Haight looked around at the students, glancing at their masks and pendants. "In this class you will learn to use your new senses and understand the forest. Okay," Mr. Haight slapped his hands together, "what first?"
