"Let's all get to know each other." said Juna.
"Quite right!" said Mr. Haight, "As I said, My name is Mr. Haight and I'm the Outdoors instructor here. I am 22 years old, and this is my first year teaching. My animal form is the blue jay; you can probably see some changes in me starting already." He was right; Juna could see blue feathers beginning to grow on Mr. Haight's arms. "Now who would like to introduce himself to me next?"
Otter Girl took the initiative. She was an strikingly pretty Native American girl with luxurious black hair down to her waist. "Hi, I'm Josephine Williams, but you can call me Josie. I'm 15 years old and I come from a long line of otter spirits." Josie was beginning to grow brown fur on her clawed hands.
Deer Boy went next. He was a tall kid with bold hair and green eyes. "Hello, I'm Ryan O'Neal. I'm 14 years old. I come from an ancient lineage of shape-shifting druids." His antlers were starting to grow in and it was almost doubtful that his mask was still just a mask.
Tiger boy came next. He was a redheaded guy with blue eyes. "Hey, I'm Michael "Mike" Peters, age 14. I'm... just a normal human. At least, I was before I put this mask on. It seems to be changing me into a tiger." And so it was. The striped fur was spreading even farther and Mike's fingernails were clawed now.
Kurt decided to go next. "Hi, I'm Kurt von Ringelheim. I'm 14 years old. The way I heard it, my ancestors were a race of noblemen from Saxony, Germany who were cursed with lycanthropy. I guess that makes me a werewolf. I didn't really believe that story until now, but look at this!" Kurt gestured to his ears, which had become wolf ears.
Rose walked up next. "Hi, my name's Rose Meriwether. I'm 13 years old and I was just a human until I put this magic collar on. Now I'm turning into a... a... Just what am I turning into, Mr. Haight?"
Mr. Haight examined the collar. "A cat." he pronounced.
"Goody!" chirped Rose, "I love cats! Now I'm turning into a cat and I'm loving every second of it! I love to read, especially about animals, and now I get to live those adventures!" Rose stepped down, gleefully feeling her new tail, which had just grown.
Juna finally came up. "I'm Juna Wilson. I'm a human and I really didn't understand the nature of this school until I got here. But now that I'm here, I think it's way cool! I'm 14 years old and I'm turning into a raccoon." As she said this, she felt her ears turn into raccoon ears. She stepped back into the crowd.
"Awesome!" cried Josie, "My tail's coming in!"
"I think my hooves are developing!" said Ryan excitedly.
"YAY! CAT EARS!!!" cheered Rose.
"I think I'll start class proper when your changes are further along." said Mr. Haight.
