Richard walked down the hall, cursing silently to himself about the idiocy of school systems and how in order to get his records of ever attending High School, he had to go to all three schools before he had the appropriate paper work stating that he graduated and could attend the college he was entering.
At the same time, he wished that he could go back and redo his education. Maybe take some paths that he did not take before and in the process possibly expose the lunacy of the school system and the hoops people had to jump through just to get anywhere.
"That's true," a smiling girl stated as she and her friend went running past him toward whatever class they were currently and apparently late for at the moment.
Watching the two girls, he wished that he also could be one of them and that maybe his mother would love more than she did at the moment. Inside his head, Richard heard his mother telling him, in a drunken slur, "You should have been female. I would have liked a little girl. Instead, I got you. A spitting image of your father...the lazy SOB. And it is all the fault of your father and the doctor. Him and those damn medications that were supposed to make the pregnancy smoother."
Richard shakes his head continues down the hall, looking for the main office. Somewhere ahead of him one of the two girls calls out, "Jackie! Come on! We're going to be late," and then both disappear around the corner.
Approaching the corner, Richard stops when he sees a folded note on the floor and at first he thinks one of the girls dropped it. Picking it up, he looks up to call after them, but stops when he sees nothing but an empty hallway...and a couple doors down Richard sees the sign that marks the entrance to the main office.
Sighing, thinking it’s probably nothing, he contemplates tossing the note in the nearest trash bin and instead pushes it into the pocket of his jeans.

Five hours later, and after getting the complete run around from both the middle school and the elementary school, Richard lets himself into the basement apartment his mother rather grudgingly use until he heads off for college next fall semester. Pulling from the fridge some juice, he pours himself a glass and sits down at the table.
Emptying his pockets, Richard sees the note and instead begins to concentrate on the paperwork that needed to be filled out if he wanted to attend the college he was seeking entrance to.
After a bit, he stretches and pours himself another glass of juice. Sitting at the table, quietly drinking his second cup, Richard looks at the notes, thought to himself, "Probably some love note," and then reached over and opened it.
Your wish to change your life is about to come true. Anything about or in your life...no matter how large or small...can be changed. It can have something to do with certain aspects of your body. Or people in your life. What makes this grand is that you, and only you, will be the only one who is oblivious to any changes...at least until the wish is completed. Your world, and everyone in it, will exist as if what's been changed has always been that way.
If you want to make a wish write it below. Feel free to make it as detailed as you want. Disclaimer: If you are not satisfied with your wish for some reason, you may rip up this paper to undo the change and return your life to the way it was before. Be warned - You are granted only one and only one wish, so choose carefully.
Sitting back, Richard thought the note was some type of joke and this had to be some kind of game children play in middle school. To him it certainly felt that way.
Standing, he went to the desk he owned and opening it he withdrew a .7 mechanical pencil. Grinning, he went back to the table. Sitting down, he picked up the note, reread it and then setting it down, he thought about a wish. After bit, he put pencil to paper and wrote. His wish was...
