"Truthfully?" Gabe said to you, "You already knew about us, even if
you didn't have the proof. You told me what you'd found without a hint
of a joke in your voice."
He paused, slowly walking closer to you. "That's why I have to bite
you, Stephanie...you can't tell anyone about us."
You realize you're in quite a bit of danger. You realize you were
foolish to tell him what you'd found. You're out here by
yourself...you have nobody to run to, and it's hard to fathom how you
could get out of this.
"You're going to bite me?" you ask him, undeniably scared. "But...but
what if I just destroy the casting?"
He shook his head. "I can't trust you, Stephanie. We both know that
even if you did destroy all the evidence on your computer as well..it
wouldn't prevent you from telling other people that you were right. It
wouldn't stop you from looking for more. You think you're the first
human to discover us? We've been dealing with this sort of thing for
eons."
"Fuck..." you mutter.
"Look, it's just a bite; I'm not going to kill you. You're going to
love being a werewolf. You never get sick, you're faster, stronger,
and have elevated senses, even in your human shape. You'll live until
you're probably at least 100, and you'll look like you're in your late
forties at THAT point. There's really no downside, Stephanie."
You take a step back toward your front door. You're not sure you want
him to get any closer than he already is to you.
"Stephanie," Gabe says calmly, "This can go as easy or as hard as you
want to make it. Believe me, I don't want to hurt you...."
"But you want to bite me. Call me cynical, but that sounds like it
would hurt." You keep backing up toward your door. It's only about a
four foot dash to it. The cabin's pretty solid, but there's a lot of
glass, large windows that he could easily leap through. You do have
some mace inside, along with a taser. You begin to debate the merits
of running inside quite seriously...something in there might work well
enough as a deterrent to give you an escape route.
"The bite will hurt," Gabe admitted. "I can't lie to you about
that...but it's a better alternative than killing you, isn't it?
Because that's your only other choice, Stephanie. I can't allow you to
tell anyone else."
