The bell rang and the remaining students wandered into the classroom, many noticing Peter the panther boy sitting on the counter and the strange woman standing next to him. Regardless, they all sat down in their seats.
Kathryn walked over and closed and locked the door. She then walked back over to the counter and started to softly pet Peter, something he appeared to enjoy.
"Good morning, class. My name is Kathryn and I'm going to be your teacher today, and I can assure you it will be a special class. A class about magic, and more specifically, about magical creatures," said Kathryn.
Already a hand shot up. It belonged to Hannah, one of the smartest girls in the class.
"Yes?" asked Kathryn.
"What is that?" asked Hannah, gesturing to Peter.
Kathryn smiled and said, "This is your classmate Peter. He was gracious enough to become what is known as my familiar. And a familiar is just one of many magical creatures that populate this world, but you may not be familiar with."
"A familiar? So, you're a witch?" said Hannah.
"Why, yes I am. Is that a problem?" asked Kathryn. None of the students seemed at all alarmed, nor should they be. They all shook their heads no. In fact, some seemed quite excited at the prospect of sharing time with a real actual witch.
"Excellent. I hope this will be fun for you all. Hannah, since you asked the first question, can you name a magical creature?" asked Kathryn.
"A unicorn?" asked Hannah.
"Very good. Now, come on up here please," said Kathryn.
"Um, okay," said Hannah, who got up and went to the front of the class.
Hannah waved nervously to the class when she felt a tightness in her hands. She looked down and watched in shock as they reformed into front hooves. The class looked on in shock as Hannah's clothes and shoes ripped away as she quickly transformed into a full-blooded white unicorn before their eyes. They watched as her faced stretched out into equine proportions and the single horn twisted it's way out of her forehead. She dropped to all fours and within moments the transformation was complete.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Unicorn. Can anyone name another?" asked Kathryn. Much to her plesant surprise, several hands shot up.
