Kathryn pointed to a male student seated towards the back. He wore a simple t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. He was fairly unremarkable, if not plain and a bit heavyset.
"Yes, and please state your name first," said Kathryn.
The student stood up. "Yes, hi, my name is Nate. Um, would a werewolf be considered a magical creature?"
"Yes, of course. One of the classics really. Are you interested in werewolves?" asked Kathryn.
"Oh yes, I have been for a long time, actually. I find them fascinating for some reason."
"Well, the werewolf is a type of shapeshifter, either by choice or by curse inflicted upon a human being. Often seen as a manifistation of the ties between humanity and our more animalistic instincts," said Kathryn. "Tell me, do you wish to find out what it is like to become a werewolf?"
"Very much so," said Nate.
"Then please come to the front of the class," said Kathryn, gesturing him forward.
Nate walked to the front of the class, already starting to feel the changes come over him. He turned to face the class, revealing his eyes had changed to a piercing amber color, with a thin coating of brown fur already growing over his face and down his neck. His upper and lower teeth had aleady started to grow out into sharp fangs. He watched as his fingernails grew out into claws and the same fur grew on the tops of his hands.
"The transformation from human to werewolf is a long and painful one," said Kathryn.
Nate ripped away his shirt, revealing his torso slowly covering with the same fur. His pauch slowly evaporated, replacing itself with strong, hard muscles. He grunted and growled as his body continued to change. He fell to his knees as his feet stretched and reformed into digigrade wolf's paws. The class watched with rapt fascination as another of their classmates shifted from human to beast.
His changes finished as his face pushed out into a snout and his pointed ears shifted to the top of his head. Nate slowly felt himself out, running his clawed hands through his thick fur and along his new snout. Despite his changes, he was more or less still himself. He expected to become some blood-thirsty beast, but yet was not. Nate slowly stood up onto his new feet and checked out the stunned looks from his classmates.
"The werewolf over the years has gotten a bad rap. After the transformation, the person is still, ostensibly, themselves except in a new form. The fear people have is what they associate with this image," said Kathryn. "Personally, I can't help but find them kind of sexy."
Some of the girls in the room, and a couple of the boys too, could spy his definition under that fur and not help but agree.
"Now, then, another magical creature please," asked Kathryn.
