Ben looked down at his body. Yes, he was wearing the yellow overalls with the blue and white striped socks and shirt. He was even wearing size seventeen yellow saddled and blue heeled-and-toed clown shoes. Apprehensively he touched his nose; horror filled him when he tried to pull it off but couldn't. Realization came to David as he looked back in the mirror:HE was the clown staring back at him.
Jeff and David ignored Ben; they were too busy staring at the people around them. "Did you see so many clowns when we came in?" Jeff asked.
"No, said David. "I guess they must have come in here after the girls all did their changing bit," he said. "After all, considering the kind of entertainment they've got, I'm not surprised this would be the kind of place clowns would come after a hard day of juggling, making balloon animals, and painting little brats' faces to relax.
"Yeah I guess." Jeff took another pull at his beer. Then he stared at David. "Dave," he asked, "do you have a cold?"
"No why?"
"You've got a little red nose," said Jeff. He blinked. "And it's getting bigger!"
David's hand flashed to the end of his nose. Sure enough it had swollen, to the size of a big marble-then a golf ball-and now a tennis ball!
Frightened Dave ran his hands to his hair-which came out in big clumps. "I'm going bald!" Frantically he looked in the mirror at the bar pillar. The hair on the top of his head was falling out; that running from the ears to the back of his head becoming fluffy-and green! White was forming around his mouth and eyes, stretching nearly to the top of his now bare forehead. His lips were turning ruby red and so were his cheeks, while his eyelids were covered with orange eyeshadow.
His clothes where changing too; Dave's leather jacket and black t-shirt had become a yellow jacket and red shirt with a puffy green bow-tie. His jeans were now baggy yellow pants; his black socks and penny loafers changed into green and white checkered socks and yellow and orange clown shoes.
He saw the blue haired clown also looking in the mirror-and sitting where Ben had been. The two looked at each other and just realized the truth-they had both been turned into clowns.
Jeff jumped off his stool. "I'm getting out of here!" he said as he raced for the door. Ben and Dave both tried to run after him-not to catch Jeff but to escape with him-but tripped over their new ridiculously big feet.
Jeff had nearly made it to the door when a clowngirl-the very one whose ass he'd grabbed and whose nose he'd felt earlier stepped right in front of him. "Just where do you think you're going, big boy?"
