Max walked down to the edge of the lake where a couple of his friends,
Brian and Nick, were racing. The two swimmers were neck and neck. They
swam as fast and as hard as they could, but neither was getting ahead.
When they finally finished, it was too close to tell. Those two
swimmers were the best on the team.
Brian and Nick were friends of Max's. He knew them during his time on
the swim team. Unfortunately, an accident ended Max's swimming career,
but he still keeps in touch with his old swimming pals. Noticing Max
on the shore, Brian and Nick swam over to greet him.
"Hey Max!" Brian and Nick greeted. They stood up, and high fived Max.
"Hey guys, long time no see. Guess you guys are still as fast as
ever." Max smiled.
"Yeah I guess so. Still wish you could be swimming with us. We used to
rule the meets." Nick cheered.
"Nick!" Brian punched him in the shoulder.
"Its alright; I've gotten over the accident. I just came down here to
see how you two were doing." Max gave another smile.
Brian continued to glare at Nick for a second, but then smiled back at
Max. "Things have been going good. This guy still can't beat me!"
"Hey! That last race we had would need a photo finish." Nick folded hi
arms.
Max then got that gleam back in his eyes. "I was wondering...would you
two be interested in becoming...faster?"
"Faster?" Nick looked at him funny.
"Is it some kind of new exercise routine?" Brian inquired.
"Not exactly...You guys will just have to trust me....You want to try
it." Max gave a devious smile.
Brian nodded, and Nick replied, "Sure! Anything to become faster
than..."
Nick couldn't finish the last of his sentence because Max had suddenly
grabbed each by the shoulder and slammed them into each other. It was
a weird feeling for them as their entire bodies, including their
heads, merged into one.
They stepped back on uneasy feet, a little disoriented. "What did you
do?" They both exclaimed. Their eyes widened when they heard their
voices speak in unison.
"Why don't you take a look in the water." Max pointed to the lake.
One of them turned their body toward the lake, and were astonished by
the sight before them. Like Max and Luke before, Brian's right side
looked like it had been stitched together to Nick's left side. They
did not match up as well as Max and Luke had. Nick had a blue eyes and
freckles, while Brian had a green eyes and no freckles. But, their
body's muscles had merged together, adding each other's strength
together.
Brian and Nick were speechless. While they were feeling around their
body, Max began explained to them what had happened. "I have just
merged you two completely together, but don't be alarmed, you guys
won't be stuck like that forever. I can easily separate you whenever
you want. I just thought it might be cool to test you skills being one
person."
They still were not responding, so Max continued. "I've just been
through the same conjoinment. I found it as an incredible experience,
and I think you two will enjoy it too. I just can't leave you guys
together for too long because your memories and thoughts will begin to
merge as well. So...do you guys want to still try it out?"
After a few moments, Brian and Nick turned their body back to face
Max. One of them said, "We were... discussing it...in...our head. This
is...really weird, but we will give it a shot. This might be kind of
fun."
