The musher stands over the two male sled dogs watching them a moment as if in deep thought. “You can not think of the team before your own selfish needs Bryan?” Keula chides the other male. This of course only seems to make Bryan more angry as he dares start toward his rival once more.
“Bryan sit!” the human commands and Bryan finds himself sitting not even remembering doing it. “Ok now what am I to do here as I simply can not have my lead dog getting hurt in a fight.” He asks aloud knowing to these dogs is words are more then just sounds. True they might not know the meaning of every word he says but having found spoken threats worked well in his dog training he keeps talking.
Amber not really sure what to do not starts to edge back toward the make shift shelter she had shared moments ago with Keula.
“Well Amber what do you think I should do about Bryan and Keula? Let them fight? Yes I would simply let them settle this in nature’s way if we had been back at the kennel. But what if Keula is hurt and can not lead the team back home?” The musher asks in a sing song tone of voice that has the effect of calming and relaxing all three dogs as he sits down among them. Bits of snow flying around him with little notice being taken of them as a reaching hand brings out a knife from some inter pocket. “Quick cut and no more fights.” He tells the three dogs who clearly do not seem to know what he means by their wagging tails.
