Meanwhile back at camp a few dogs are experiencing a chain for the very first time much to their dismay. The musher wishing to start the new dogs to accept being on a chain had driven a few spikes into the hard ground for anchors. Then fastened a chain to those among the pack who have not yet fully begin to see the other dogs as a family they never wish to be apart from. Iiumni a long time pack member is one of those allowed to stay lose, and is quick to sniff about camp for scraps of food while the more aggressive males discover chains limit your reach when trying to snap at another dog. Becky is another who has been left lose as to the musher’s eye she acts like she was born within the sled team. Never having been without Keula the pack might have looked to Bryan for leadership. But now with no clear male leader the pack becomes more of a mob as dogs take to starting minor fights among themselves as the chains keep more then one male from sporting wounds the next morning. Becky seeing how easy Iiumni was to bully is soon showing the rest of the pack who’s boss. A few cow easily simply by her showing fang and growling threatenly to get them tucking tail. Other dogs try to dominate the bitch as they quickly find fighting while chained to be a disadvantage. “Iiumni? Find any food yet?” Becky asks as she dismounts from one of the male who had to be shown who the alpha was. Iiumni having found a few cast off bits of food and in the process of gulping them down freezes as his tail lowers. “Yes.” He replies not daring to lie after watching this bitch donate males much bigger them himself. The pack looks on as the bitch pads over to the husky and noses him aside while she sniffs at the bit of rubbish he was eating. “You can have this Iiumni.” Becky tells him feeling full herself as she looks over the gathered group of canines all of whom are careful to avoid her eyes now. Iiumni wags his tail rapidly never having been told before by even a human that he could have a piece of food. Laying down on his belly the husky quickly begins eating his fill before Becky can change her mind. “Think our musher will come back soon?” Becky asks sitting down next to the husky. “He comes and goes. Who knows what a human does or why. Might be heading back to our kennel tomorrow.” Iiumni offers feeling contented and now liking Becky even more then Amber as Amber never gave him food.
