"You know Mr. Ling, I don't really know which one to choose. They all sound very
interesting and more than likely producing of my desired results."
"Oh... they are, but each has its own gift... ah?"
"What do you mean..." ... "gift?"
"Just what I say boy!" Mr. Ling answered with a hint of anger in his voice. "Now, you
pick one and stop wasting time. You will like results no matter what."
"Hmmm... then I guess if I don't have anything to lose... I will take the wolf
fang."
"Oh, that a very good choi for you, hmmm."
Mr. Ling started looking around on the shelves behind him, mumbling to himself
what you were sure to be curses in his language. You were certain that he was having a
hard time remembering where he stored the wolf fang, that was until he shouted in what
you were certain was an ah ha moment.
"Mr. Ling find for you wolf fang! Last one in store, maybe in whole supply! You very
lucky Mr. Ling in a good mood."
You chuckle a bit, unsure of several things at the moment. "Ok Mr. Ling, how much
do you want for it?"
"What you have in your pocket?"
"In my pocket? Why would you want whatever is in my pocket?"
"Do not question Mr. Ling! You want from me, I want from you. No money in world
could pay for such items that I have. These item are special, not some toy or trinket you
buy in normal store. Now, empty your pockets and I take. You no choose, I take and you
have wolf fang."
Seeing that you upset Mr. Ling, more than you have even intended, you do as he
says. You were fearful that if you didn't do what he said, he would revoke the offer of
having the item and all this would have just been for naught. With your pockets pulled
out, everything that was in them set on the counter, you stand there dumbfounded. As
you watch him, he digs through lint and dirt, finding nothing of value... or at least of value
in your eyes. You watch him as he smiles, pulling a hair of yours out of the pile. Then he
finds a penny, then a fragment of a broken fingernail, and a bandaid with a little bit of
your blood in the padding. Not sure what he was going to do with those, especially since
you knew those were the perfect ingredients for voodoo and mind control, you had a bit
of concern.
"Mr. Ling, what are you going to do with those?"
"I make potion for you, but I keep here. It just incase you no like your new self." He
nodded then shooed you away and completely out of the store.
You think to yourself why in the world would I not like my new self? Mr. Ling
knows pretty much what I want to see happen with my body, what could go wrong?
Putting the thought off, you hold the vial which was full of what was a wolf fang made into
a powder and read the print on the vial. The only thing you had to do was add water to the
vial, shake and then drink in one shot. That didn't sound too complicated, but then again,
anything that is to be taken in a single shot probably tastes like the worst kind of dirt. You
shrug your shoulders and remind yourself that it was a one time thing and that it would
get you to where you want to be.
Once you arrive home, which didn't take too long since you lived four blocks away
from there and just happened to stumble across Mr. Ling's shop that occupied the space
of what was a small town convenience store on the corner, you decide to give this whole
wolf paw a go. Walking into the kitchen of your own home, which you were proud of
owning with no debt at twenty seven years old, you walk directly to the sink. Uncorking
the vial, you used extreme caution not to dump the contents accidentally. You place the
vial right over the faucet and turn the water on very slowly so you could control how fast
the liquid filled the vial. Once that was done, you place the cork back and shake.
Interestingly enough, once you shook it three times, it was completely dissolved and the
water was a light hue of purple. Shrugging your shoulders once again, you remove the
cork and down the vial with a swift throw of your head back. Remarkably, it didn't taste
bad, nor did it taste like anything at all in fact. Now that the biggest step was taken, it
was only a matter of time before changes started to occur. You were sure it would take
some time, an unknown amount of time, to make its way through your system and
permeate your cells to get your changes manifest.
Knowing that this could be a while, you decide to go about your daily business and
just letting things take their course. The question you still had in mind was... What
happens now?
