Before he knew it Drake found himself being lead out of the dorm lobby
and off towards the gym by Sam. The Gym and Phys Ed department were
only a couple of blocks from the dorm. Worried about hs appearance he
was pleasantly surprised when he heard possitive comments from his
fellow students.
"Way to go man!", "Looking good, Drake!, "Totally gnarley", were heard
most often. One girl approached and asked if she could run her fingers
through his hair.
"That'll have to wait. No time now!" said Sam dragging Drake behind
him hurriedly.
With in minutes Drake found himself seated in the Coach's office.
Nervous he glanced around the room. On the walls were photos, from
the 1890's to the present, of "The Wildman" the School's mascot. Each
photo depicted a very hairy young man with bulging muscles, a long
beard, and shaggy hair. Of course none of the guys in the pictures
were nearly as hairy as drake.
"Just think, soon your picture will be up there with the rest." Sam
sighed.
"What happend to the our current Mascot, Brad Weller?"
" He developed a rare form of cancer. Lost all his hair to keemo."
"So why didn't you apply for the position?" Drake asked remembering
Sam's hairy body.
"I tried out last year but lost out to Brad. He was one major Gorilla.
Besides I'm captain of the basketball team. I can't do both."
After a few more minutes of looking at the photos the door opened and
in walked the Coach. " Is this the guy?" he asked looking at Drake."
"From the way you described him over the phone, Sam, I thought he'd
be hairier."
Coach could best be described as an ex- marine drill sargeant, with a
hard voice, a hard face, and an even harder disposition. "So you want
to be the new school mascot, eh?"
"I-I-I- guess" Dake stammered.
"The answer is either yes or no" Coach barked.
"Yes?"
"Let me take a good look at you."
Drake stood in the middle of the room while the Coach poked and proded
and eyed him for every cncievable angle. Drake felt as if hundreds of
pair of eyes were watching him.
" Kind of scrawny aren't ya, kid? You willing to work out?"
"Yes"
"Did Sam, here. tell you what's expected from our Mascot?"
"No, Sir."
"No haircuts! No shaving! You must attend all games (home and away),
attend all pep rallies and any other school appoined functions. In
return you will recieve a full scholorship to be applied twords a
degreee in Body building. All our mascots must live up to the
following motto: Bigger, Stronger, Hairier!
"Hairier? Aren't I hairy enough?"
"It's not about what you look like now," Sam piped in with a grin.
"I't about the process of becoming the ultimate wildman, about what
you look like at graduation."
"The 'Wildman' represent's change. We expect you to grow bigger,
stronger and HAIRIER! With any luck by the time you graduate you'll
put Mr Universe to shame and that hair of yours will be three time its
current lenght. Are you in?"
This was a huge moment for Drake. Could it really be that they were
asking him to become the ultimate hairy hulk? Sure he had fantasized
about it, but..."Yes!" Drake shouted without another moments thought.
"Welcome aboard," Coach said extending his hand. "Sam will show you
around. Meet me here tomorrow morning at ten. I'll have your workout
schedual and high protine diet, Builds muscle and hair, ready for you.
Homecomming is in two weeks. We have a lot to do to get you ready in
time."
What happens as Drake start his new life as The Wildman.
