James grimaced at the sight of the three mummies after he had pulled away the bandages. They were faceless wax dummies under those wrappings. No mouths, eyes, or hair. There noses were just a bump on the middle of the head. How they saw or anything he'll never know. James picked up the book and tried to see if there was any way for him to turn these people back to normal or to control them. No such luck. He couldn't read this chicken scratch.
He heard the crunching of cardboard and looked up to see a horrible sight. Standing there were two egyptian statues. Unlike the mummies in front of him, there had more complex structures. In fact, they were sculptures of Imotep from the Mummy movies. The one on the left was a more skeletal mummy, with its jaws hanging wide open in a scream. The one on the right was the more human looking Imotep dressed in leather briefs and his robes hanging off his sculpted shoulders. The blond stared frightfully at the two mummy icons.
"You guys wouldn't by chance be here to give me your autographs are you?"
The mummy icons roared.
"Nope. Didn't think so. Agh!" he ran for it, book in hand. The wax figures ran after him. The skeletal mummy jumped in front of James and it was only his surprised stumble that allowed him to avoid getting caught. He slid under the creatures open legs and slid to a stop before slamming into the book case. The two icons turned and roared at him, creating a dust storm that through him out of the secret library.
"Wow, that was lucky." James said. Imotep's whole form walked out the opening and James got up and ran. "I am not going to become a mummy today!" he yelled as he ran, unaware that the scarab amulet he wore was glowing a light gold.
