As Blaine fumbled in the dark, his barefoot landed on something
slippery and he ended up skidding and stumbling into an old trash bin.
"Yuck," he said removing the banana peel from his head, and wiping the
black soot and white plaster off his body, as he climbed out of the
dumpster, "I'm filthy."
His eyes were adjusting to the dim basement light. He apparently had
ended up in a bin of trash left by construction workers. He wiped the
unknown wet substance off his butt cheek.
"You sure are filthy," Malcolm said from the doorway. The lights
flickered on. "I found a light switch. We're in the old gym basement.
The shower room is down this hall. Don't know if the water's hooked
up, but you may want to give it a try. I'm going to see if I can find
some old gym shorts or something to wear. Even a towel will do."
"Showers! I could go for that," Blaine said following Malcolm out of
the store room.
Malcolm pointed the opposite direction. At the end of the hall was a
sign that read "MENS LOCKER ROOM".
"Hope they've got hot water. I really stink," Blaine said.
"I'm not going step into that straight line until I've got something
to wear," said Malcolm unsure whether Blaine was really that dense or
just baiting him.
Blaine shrugged and headed for the abandoned locker rooms.
He thought he heard something skitter along the floors as he entered.
He shrugged, probably a mouse or rat. He shuddered slightly, he
didn't like rodents. He instantly thought of Malcolm, and muttered,
"That rodent Malcolm is to blame for all this. As soon as we get out
of this - his ass is toast."
He found the showers without problem the dim yellow bulb lit the grey
tiled room. He turned on the water. The shower came to life. He
adjusted it, and remembered that the University had a central boiler.
He stepped into the shower stream and washed the gunk from his hair.
He pumped the soap dispenser, and an antiseptic smelling oily liquid
filled his hands.
"They even still have soap. I may come here to shower every day," he
chuckled, as he lathered up.
He heard more skittering.
"Hello?"
He shook his head and continued washing. He looked up at the door
after a loud thud.
"Malcolm is that you? Trying to scare me? Come on!" Blaine turned off
the water, and strode dripping naked toward the door.
He stopped short when...
