After a few minutes, Steven had come over. Damion told him everything his brother and Kyle had said, but didn't mention the part of it being permanent again. Both boys were brimming with excitement and eager to try it out. They had a very close friendship, and enjoyed the times they had pretended to be conjoined. They quietly went upstairs, sneaking into Dave's bedroom. Dave and Kyle had taken the chain off, and left it on the night stand. Upon seeing it, Damion silently raced over and snatched it. He than tip toed back to Steven and they put the two different strings of the joined eagle around their necks.
They both looked at each other in anticipation, expecting it to take effect, just as it had with Kyle and Dave. But after a few minutes of standing around in their un-fused bodies, Steven gave Damion an unimpressed stare, "What the heck man? I thought you said this would stick us to each other." Steven pointed over to the two other sleeping boys, "Like that! Why isn't it working?"
"I don't know... It should have done it buy now!" Damion's voice started getting louder with anger. "Stupid thing! Why aren't we combining?! I don't get it!" He had grabbed the eagle and started pulling on it, trying to get it to break, seeing if that would work. Steven urged Damion to be quiet, and even trying pulling him out of the room by the chain, but Damion was just getting more frustrated and more loud every second.
"Hey!" Steven and Damion both looked up to see Dave's head up and off the pillow. "What are you two doing?! Didn't we warn you about that?!"
"We don't care!" Damion shouted back, "We want to be stuck!" Dave glared at both of them as he threw his blanket off, swung his leg off the bed, sat up... and then fell on the floor, unable to move Kyle's side of the body.
"Uh, what the hell Dave?" Kyle grunted, waking suddenly from the fall out of bed. He turned to Dave and sighed, "Thanks! Did you forget you can't just move on your own?"
Dave just glared and pointed, Kyle followed his gaze. Seeing Steven and Damion with the chains around their necks set Kyle off too. "What the hell?! Are you guys crazy?! Take that off! Now!" Kyle and Dave struggle with, and against each other in a furious attempt to stand. Once up they lunged for Damion. Damion went right to the ground, but Steven had managed to move away, breaking the eagle back into two. Before anything could happen, Dave ripped the chain off of Damion's head, and shoved it into the pocket on Kyle's jeans.
Dave and Kyle watched as Steven made a break for the door, then down the hall. They tried running after him, but they still hadn't even mastered walking. Once again they stumbled and fell down. Kyle and Dave looked at each other in anger, "This sucks!"
"What does?" They heard a familiar voice, and saw Steven being held in place by a Dave's father. "Wow..."
