I stepped forward still trying not to laugh and kneeled down. "Ah, it's not in there far." I plucked the fork out of her skin and wiped away a trickle of blood.
"Owch!" She winced. "Ah! That's better!" She looked down at herself and giggled. She tried to stand and flailed sadly. "I can't get up."
"Want some help?" I smirked.
"Ah. Hey! That would be great!" Cathy whinnied happily. "You can help me stand up!"
"Here, give me a leg." I pushed Cathy's legs into her body and then held her neck as she pushed up and finally stood again, though wobbly.
"Hey, that's better!" The horse looked around the kitchen and snorted. "Well, I guess I'm done with the dishes." She laughed her annoying laugh. "So! What brings you to your... I mean, my... my? Yeah! What brings you to your my house??" She looked confused. "I mean... the place I live. You know!"
I blinked. "Uh, yeah. I just stopped by to show something to Sara, I was about to go!"
"Oh!" She laughed. "That's neat! Well, I guess I better clean up."
"Yes..." I trailed off, thinking. Now that she was so stupid I kind of felt bad for her. I should do something nice! "Hey, Aunt Cathy, one question?"
"Mmmph?" She stuck her head up, spitting out a pot. "I mean, yesss?"
"Do you like being a horse?" I cocked my head to the side sincerely.
Her ears fell and she looked down at the ground. "Um... well. I mean, there's just one of me in the whooole world. And no other animal can talk like me! But I'm not a person, and I don't get treated good. People laugh at me a lot. They always did. And... well, I'm so big and clumsy. Sometimes I feel like a big dumb animal." She shook her head. "I think I'm not as smart as I used ta be. Thinking makes me sleepy." She looked at me in alarm. "Was I always like, not smart?"
"As long as I can remember." I lied. "But, you've always been a horse right?"
"Yup!" She nodded. "My whole life."
"Don't you wonder what if would be like to be..." I trailed off, thinking.
