I had to think fast. Making up lies in a moments notice is tough to do under these circumstances. I had to think of something before she got wise to me and to what
we did to her mother. We had to keep this little thing a secret. I could see people lined up at my house asking for my wishes like I was a wishing well in blue jeans.
"She's upstairs in my mother's office, faxing some documents. Can I get you anything while you're waiting?" "Yes. My mother. I want to go home."
I could see where Lily got her personality from. It made her rather unattractive. Suddenly my fleeting infatuation was replaced by a growing irritation. Then I
noticed that she was looking over my shoulder, towrads the front door. I turned and saw that the pile of clothes that belonged to the adult Lucille Barnes were still
there. I closed my eyes and knew that I would have to make another wish. "What's that? she asked, her anger growing. She went to the pile of clothes and picked
up a bra from the pile. "These are my mother's clothes. What happened to her?"
My mother smiled, removed the infant that had been nursing at her breast, and held it up for the Lily to see. The baby became very excited upon seeing Lily. It
began to fidget and gurgle, as if it were trying to say something. "This is your mother Lily." Lily smiled, but it wasn't a humorous kind of smile. It was more cold and
very scary smile. "THIS is my mother? What did you guys do to her?" "Mom!" I yelled. "How did you know?"
"I remember now, the perfume I smelled earlier is the same kind Laura wears. That and the piles of clothes Lily just found makes it pretty evident that, somehow,
this is Laura turned into a baby."
"It was an accident. You see..."
"Don't tell her Joe," my mom said. "Show her. And me, too."
