The door swung open and Olivia burst in. "There you are Cornelius!" She said lovingly and quickly upon seeing the Cat. A look of dread shot over the cats face as Olivia came closer. With a swift practiced movement she scooped up Cornelius into her arms and spun round. "He didn't bother you did he Clare?" she asked as if she had no knowledge of the cats fantastic and shocking ability. Cornelius stayed silent and looked at Clare with dread in his eyes.
"No, I'd only just noticed him in here when you arrived." she lied. She swore she saw a twinkle of relief in Olivia's eye as she spun round to leave.
"Olivia, you know mum and dad don't let us have pets?!" Clare said taking a firm stance. Her sister may be taller than her, if only by a little, but she was still older, wiser, knew better, or at least that was the card she was going to play.
"I know," was the reply. "He won't be here tomorrow, I promise." she replied Cryptically. Clare formed thousands of possible reasons in her head as to why this could be, some good, some bad, but she had little time to dwell on them as Olivia left the room and trudged across the landing to her own. Clare glanced out of the door and watched her sister close the door. Before she left earshot completely Clare thought she heard her say "You better not have spoken to her." but the voice was so muffled she could easily have been mistaken.
Clare closed her door and got changed for bed but continued to think of the fate of Cornelius, and why he was so desperate for help. What was her sister hiding. She climbed into bed but couldn't stop thinking about it.
