"Guys, set it to normal and fix my bike!" Kevin cried through the machine.
"Okaaaaaaaay..." called Jim.
Kevin could see that they were messing with the controls. "Hey wait!"
But he already heard the thing charging up. He went to run, but was knocked off his feet by the sudden blast of electricity. The bolts were so strong that he couldn't even see outside. All he could see was himself and the miniature bike in his hands. But he could see that his bike was growing. His fear started leaving him. They must have set everything to normal. He set down the bike and watched it grow and grow until it reached his own size. Suddenly the electricity that was flowing through him stopped, leaving him in the open with his bike.
He ran over to his bike and propped it up. Just the right size. He looked about him to see that he was still in the Size Machine, but it seemed different somehow. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he figured that it was because he'd been blinded from it for a while. He hopped on his bike and rode down the dirt trail back toward his friends.
Jim and Ron walked over to look at the changes they had made. They watched as their friend mounted his bike and rode toward them. They could hardly believe their eyes. The bike had remained just as small as before, because they hadn't moved the dial one bit, but they could now see that their friend had shrunk down to match it. They saw Kevin's miniature legs pedaling furiously as he dodged pieces of gravel to come toward them.
When he finally arrived at their feet he hopped off his bike and looked up at them. "Hey, thanks for fixing my bike," came the tiny voice. The boy set down his toy-sized bike and stepped out toward his friends.
Mike and Ron stared down in wonder at Kevin.
Kevin saw their stares, "What?"
Each boy had a different thought in mind...
