Your next destination is the boy's locker room. There are mirrors and bathroom stalls there, so you can quickly look yourself over and then get changed for gym class.
When you arrive, you shuffle through the crowded changing area and go into the bathroom. You can tell with just a glance at your reflection how you've changed.
Your hair has grown again. This time, it's the back that's longer. You still have the chin-length bangs on the sides of your face, and the thick bangs covering your forehead. Now they're joined by a cascade of straight hair that falls behind your shoulders.
Your body looks slightly different overall. You look a little thinner, and maybe even shorter. Your arms and legs have lost some muscle, and your neck is thinner.
You hear the coach out in the changing area telling the other kids to hurry up and get into the gym. This is your cue to get changed. You go out to your locker and grab your winkled gym shirt and shorts.
You're the last one out of the changing room. The coach sternly teases you about lagging behind, then falls into a silent stare. It's clear he notices something unusual. You quickly prepare an excuse about not feeling well and maybe being let out of gym today.
Before you speak, he pulls something small out of his pocket and tosses it to you. You catch it. It's a thin brown hairband.
"Get that mop tied back or it'll throw off your game."
Perplexed, you can only mutter a "Thank you" before walking cautiously to join the line of boys. After a few attempts, you finally get your shoulder-blade-length hair into a ponytail. You wish you could do something about your bangs as well. You feel silly standing next to the other boys, looking as you do. Some of them definitely look taller than you remember, though you still aren't the shortest one of the group.
You all begin warm-up exercises and stretch out. This actually seems to improve the way you feel. Limbering up begins to shake off the light-headed feeling.
The coach, satisfied that everyone's ready to go, announces what's on the schedule for today.
