It was slowly passed midnight as Sean headed back to his room quietly after a trip to the bathroom. Since today was now Sunday, his parents expected him to be up bright and early to go to church. He hated church. Still, what they didn't know wouldn't hurt him and the sound of sock-covered feet across wooden floor was difficult to detect even when actively listening for it. Closing his bedroom door, he held the knob so that he could turn it slowly into place without even the click of the lock snapping in. It was silent, then, as Sean turned back towards his TV with a smile.
His light-switch was right near his dresser, though, and even though he knew what his room looked like in the dark, he didn't want to risk tripping over something he'd forgot on the floor and making a racket. Flicking the switch up for a moment, he checked to make sure there was nothing between him and the chair in front of his television. Sure that he knew his path across the room, he looked back to the switch to turn it off. However, as he did so, noticed the amulet sitting on the dresser there… forgotten hours earlier.
Tilting his head, Sean picked up the amulet and looked it over. It was a faded orange color of bronze that he recognized from his armour creation as a blacksmith in World of Warcraft. Picking it up, he noted its weight and the little engraved characters on the back of it… text of a language the young boy did not know. He thought it an odd gift, to be sure, but he shrugged on that with a thought. Looks kind of cool, he smirked, taking the thin brown string attached to the amulet and tying it into a loop. Putting it around his neck, he looked back over his room and turned off the light.
