Brandon Sellers reached stretched out his long arms and he easily caught the amulet. No wonder, the college freshman was the center on the basketball team. And at 6 foot 8 inches tall, the skinny, athletic basketball star just reached out for the amulet, just like he would reach out for the basketball when playing on the court.
Brandon got up and walked towards the door to the auditorium, along with Jenny, his new girlfriend from college, when Karissa tapped him on his shoulder.
“Hey, neighbor….” Karissa chuckled. “I guess they do teach you something in college, huh? You seem to be pretty good at catching things when they get thrown in the air…”
“Hi Karissa…” Brandon laughed, as he looked down at the shorter lady, while admiring the amulet, which he was holding in his hand. “Are you here by yourself?”
“No, I came here with Mitch, he should be outside waiting for me!” she replied. “So, what are you going to do with that?”
“Oh, I don’t know…” Brandon replied, as he glanced at the amulet. “I might give it away…”
“How’s your little brother doing? Didn’t he come to watch the opera?”
“Sean? No, he decided to stay home to play video games…” Brandon chuckled. “You can’t expect a thirteen year-old to enjoy going to the opera…”
“Maybe you can give that amulet to Sean…” Karissa suggested to the tall college student.
“Perhaps… He likes these kinds of things, I guess…”
Both Karissa and Brandon then said goodbye, as Karissa walked out the lobby, looking for Mitch, who was patiently waiting outside by the door. Brandon and Jenny then walked over to his car, and Mitch and Karissa ended up driving home right behind them.
Once they arrived home, Mitch and Karissa just spent time watching TV, not knowing that something very important was about to happen in the house right next door.
Brandon and Jenny had just gotten home, and Brandon immediately walked into Sean’s bedroom. The young teen was playing games on his Playstation, when Brandon walked in. He showed his little brother the amulet, and he wondered if he wanted to have it. The boy took it from the older brother, and glanced at it in awe. He saw that it had a string tied to it, and he decided that he would wear it around his neck starting the following day. He figured the amulet could bring him good luck.
In the meantime, Sean just placed the amulet on his dresser. The video game was more important at that moment. But the following day would be Sunday, and he would wear it while riding his scooter on the street.
