Jeff barked at the phone, but Bob had already hung up. He tried for a moment to remove the collar, but stopped after struggling to slip it over his head. It was probably too late anyway.
Jeff sighed as the fur grew in over his body, thick, white and gray. It didn't take much to realize that he was becoming a copy of his old dog Snow, a husky bitch.
She got up on all fours, struggling to walk on her changing limbs and went to the computer again. With luck, now that Bob was logged off, she could stop the change, but all she found was that the screen started to become incomprehensible as her head and brain started to change. She remembered that she'd set the mental adaptation to 50%, which meant that she was going to have some pretty strong animal instincts.
She heard the door open downstairs and footsteps coming up. Moments later, Bob opened the door, leaned in the doorway and smiled, "I'm sorry about that, Jeff, but you are looking pretty good."
Jeff turned and growled, but Bob just whacked her lightly on the nose, "Stop that... uh, oh, girl," he said with a smirk. "You're stuck like this for a year, so better get used to it."
The final few changes came in while Bob watched, including Jeff's tail and ears. The computer chimed, and Bob stepped over and clipped a leash to Jeffs collar. "Ok, now we can..."
The computer chirped again and Bob looked at it. "Adjusting reality? What does that..." He stopped as the world seemed to blur around them. On moment they were standing in Jeff's room, the next they were standing in a park not far from Bob's house. "What the hell?"
Jeff barked and whined, not liking this one bit.
Bob leaned over and looked at her tags. "This is... interesting." He flipped the tags over. "According to these, your name is Genie and you're mine, at least the phone number on the tag is mine."
Jeff growled again, but didn't put her heart in it. She had a feeling that it was part of the involuntary conditioning that she'd been given as part of the transformation.
Bob tugged on the leash and started leading her, "Lets head home, Genie, and see how far all this goes."
