It was clear once they got home that the world had changed a great deal, at least where Genie was concerned.
There was a dog bed and a few chew toys laying around, as well as a "new" dog door leading from a rear laundry room into the backyard. It was new to both Bob and Genie, but it was clearly well worn and had been in place for some time.
Bob checked on his computer, "Well, girl, you don't exist, or at least your human form doesn't." He pointed at the screen to his new dogs quizzical sound, "I just checked and I don't have any emails from you, you're not in my contacts and no sign of you online." He patted her on the head, "Looks like we don't have to worry about anyone looking for you, Genie."
Genie laid down on the floor and sighed. She wanted to punish Bob somehow, but apparently she was a good, obedient pet.
As the next few weeks passed, she slipped seamlessly into her new role as a family dog. After a week or two of angst about the transformation, she decided just to let go and let the dog part take over for a while. Once that happened, she actually found herself enjoying her role.
One Saturday morning, she lazed away waiting for Bob to get moving. His parents had left for the weekend, and Bob had promised to take her to the dog park. Her ears perked up when she heard, "Genie, come upstairs for a minute!"
She jumped to her feet and headed up. She was partway up the stairs when she heard the familar sound of the Chronovac starting up. She had known that Bob had it, but he'd avoided using it after the disaster with her. She paused at the door and peaked in.
He was waiting for her, and smiled even as his naked body was starting to get covered in fur. "I thought we'd spend a few hours playing," he said. "I set this for a 24 hour change for me. Should be..woof..." he said, his human voice trailing off.
Genie sat, fascinated, as her friend transformed. She realized quickly that he was not becoming a husky like herself, but rather a black Labrador. He settled to all fours before he was forced by the transformation, and in moments he was finished.
The two dogs sniffed at each other, no longer able to communicate in any way other than as dogs. Once they were acquainted, Genie raced down the stairs and out the dog door, followed by her friend.

The expereince that day was somewhat intoxicating for them both. Genie had been a dog now for three months. After that weekend, Bob spent as much time as he could as one, often as different breeds. They generally stuck to the house, though once in a while they'd leave the gate open for some late night carousing.
Bob had been a dog about half a dozen times when he had an opportunity to spend a bit longer as one. His parents went off for a week, leaving him and his dog alone. Once he was alone, he transformed again, this time into a husky. Leaving a carefully hidden hole under the fence, the two dogs had planned a weekend of exploring the neighborhood by night.
It was two days before Genie realized she was going into heat.
Despite their time together as dogs, they'd never done anything other than play. Now, Bob took a greater interest, and Genie didn't object. They mated that night, Genie reveling in the weight on her back as she felt her lover pumping his seed into her. The pair of them acted on these instincts several times over the next couple of days before her heat passed.
