Jenny got out of the carriage and looked up at the big, beautiful, yet, somehow, foreboding mansion just beyond the south side of the town. The driver got down
her trunk, surprised at how light it was. But Jenny didn't have much in the way of worldly possessions. She gave the driver a small tip, declined his offer to carry the
trunk to the house for her, and started up the path from the gate.
What was it about Parkhurst Manor that off-set her so much. She knew the Parkhursts were an old family. Recently, young Mister Parkhurst had been making a
name for himself in the world of science. But, apparently, it wasn't often a GOOD name.
Jenny studied the house as she walked around it in search of the servants' entrance. It was quite large, said to have over 30 rooms in it. Jenny had no idea why
anyone would need so many rooms. She tried to ignore the stories of the strange lights in some of the rooms. And she'd heard a lot of servants came and went
every month. Was the Master really such an ogre?
Jenny found the servants' entrance, went up and knocked on the door.
