"Where are all the servants?" Artie muttered as he answered the door.
"Yes? Who are you and what do you want?"
"Excuse me, sir, I'm the new servant. Mr. Parkhurst?"
"A Parkhurst not the Parkhurst. Randall is in the city this week, and his servants have all run off. I'm Arthur Parkhurst, Randall Parkhurst's cousin. Well, come in. I can get you started cleaning up Randy's lab, it is an absolute mess. Now grab a duster and rag, and follow me," he says in an imperious tone.
Ignoring the large warning sign on door: "DANGEROUS SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS IN PROGRESS PLEASE DO NOT ENTER!"
The young woman hesitates, "It says "Danger...DO NOT ENTER!"
"Randy's idea of security instead of getting a dog or even a good padlock," Artie explains.
The laboratory is strewn with bottles of strange colored liquids and powders and lots of half written sheets of paper.
"Start collecting all the papers in a stack and put them on that desk!" he orders.
She starts collecting them, and upsets a glass apparatus which is partly resting on the page she has just pulled. The glasses wobble and topple. There is an explosion and a cloud of noxious green gas rises. She is completely obscured by the dense smoke.
"What have you done now, girl--cough!" and keeps coughing as the cloud envelopes him too.
