Andrew walked into the village and to his surprise no one seemed to care that he was naked. In fact many men walked around with little more than sandals on. Some wore loin cloths, some big baggy shirts, but there were a good number who were just as naked as he.
He stopped by at local fruit vendor's stand and asked about this.
"Oh, you must be new to our village! May I know your name?" The kindly grey bearded man wearing a long baggy green tunic and nothing else said.
"Yes, I am and my name is Andrew. What is the name of your village and why are there so many naked men?" Andrew asked.
"Well Andrew, this is the village of Werehaven, a place where humans and Weres of all sorts live together peacefully. I'm Adam, I'm a werebear and have lived here since I first changed at thirteen. My father moved me here just after I was born, father was a werebear and mother was a weretiger, obviously I took after my father but it could have gone the other way I suppose, you never know when two weres have a child which they'll take after at first change, but I've rambled on like an old fool. You don't need my life story, you want to know why so many of us are naked. The answer is simple, being a village of weres clothing often gets shredded when we change, so unless we're pretty sure we're not going to change, we don't wear it or like me, wear something that will accommodate our change in size. Also, because we're all male, the females live in a village a mile or so down the road, we see no need to hide what we have. After all, we've seen it all before, right?" Adam winks at you.
"But you said you were a village of humans and weres." Andrew said.
"That's right, we are. Humans here are often relatives or companions, of course, or travelers like yourself. We weres protect them from highwaymen, bandits and other dangers. They in turn farm the fields, raise the flocks, cattle and swine, which are somewhat frightened of the carnivores weres, run businesses and manufacture goods. Now we do some of that too, but our primary function in our society is to safeguard their lives." Adam says.
"But, don't you turn into mindless beasts and hurt them?" Andrew asks.
Adam laughs deeply and says, "No no! We might be beasts when we change, but we're far from mindless and savage. We're just as capable of thought as you when we change, but we have the advantage of the beast's power. It truly shocks the bandits when they're out maneuvered by a coordinated attack. We round them up and turn them over to the authorities for the ransom, of course. A were can make a pretty penny doing that even when it's divide up." Adam says.
"Ah, a very profitable arrangement indeed." Andrew says, "Is there anyone hiring in town, I'm new and have nothing in the way of food or money, or clothes."
"Well, you look like a strong sort and I know the wharf master is looking for dock workers. The miller always has need of extra help this time of year with the gran harvests coming in to be ground to flour and, if you don't mind showing off your body and it seems you don't," Adam winks at you again and smiles, "there's the Pizzled Buck Tavern. Strictly men's entertainment if you know what I mean" He winks again, "you've got the looks for it, that's for sure."
"Well, I don't know about that last one, but thanks for the information." Andrew says.
"Well the last one is fairly easy money if that makes a difference. Here, take an apple." He tosses you an apple "It's on me. Welcome Andrew and I hope to see you later."
Andrew thanks Adam and continues on into the town.
