Emily turned the key in her apartment door, unlocking it and stepping inside before she locked it behind herself. Her roommate Cara was sitting on the couch reading a magazine. Cara was a good friend, someone that Emily had met in college and ended up living with after graduation. The dark-haired girl gave a nod to Emily's entrance.
"Quick shopping trip, huh?"
"Yeah, went a bit faster than I thought it would," Emily said as she walked over to the kitchen counter that was open to their combined living room and dining room.
The phone rang, and Emily went to go pick it up, setting down the plastic bag that contained her purchase on the counter. She answered it, and while she was dealing with the annoyance of a telemarketer her roommate put down her magazine, and approached the counter with curiosity. Picking up the bag, she quirked a brow at the white flower contained within. Before long impulse got the better of her and she opened the zipper, drawing the delicate thing out to get a better look. It was soft between her fingers and gently fragrant.
"Taking up scrapbooking?" She asked the redhead just as Emily hung up on the telemarketer.
"Hey!" Emily said nervously, remembering the shopkeeper's warning. "You're going to get it all rumpled!"
"Okay, okay, geez." Cara said as she slipped it back into the bag and sealed the zipper. "I just thought it was interesting. It's kind of pretty."
"Yeah, well, the uh... the project I need it for isn't done yet," Emily hedged.
"You'll have to let me see when you're finished, huh?" Cara said as she handed the bag to her roommate.
"Uh... yeah. I'll... be sure to do that."
