Emily waited for her overly curious roommate to once again busy herself with her magazine and then hastily took the bag back to her room where she could inspect it in private.
"Damn it!" She mentally cursed herself under her breath for being so careless and allowing Cara to actually touch the flower. How long had her roommate been doing so before Emily noticed and what would it mean anyway? She still wasn't even sure what she was supposed to do with it, but assumed it would have something to do with the next full moon which was just 3 days away.
"Hey, it says here they're going to renew that one show you're always watching." Cara randomly called out from the living room couch.
"Oh really? That's cool..." Emily called back absentmindedly. She was now deep in thought, examining the flower in the bag for any sign of damage, change, magical hidden message, anything. She once again began twisting a lock of her auburn hair (a nervous habit she had always had), as she stared at the flower in the bag on her bed. It seemed somehow... different she thought although she could not place what it was.
Outside the bedroom, Cara slammed a kitchen cabinet shut, snapping Emily out of her trance.
"Hey what do you want for dinner? I'm starving!" Cara called out. "I don't know why, but i really feel like something meaty tonight like steak or something."
Never one to pass up steak, Emily yelled back "Yeah, sure, that sounds ok." She quickly scanned her room for a good place to hide the bag and finally settled on her lower nightstand drawer under some old letters. She emerged from her room feeling more anxious than hungry.
"Awesome. Let me just change out of these grody sweatpants and we can go pick a couple up from the store. I'm thinking big, juicy ribeyes."
Emily smiled and exhaled dramatically giving her beautiful, fashion obsessed roommate a mock-impatient look. "Ok, just hurry up, k? You don't have to get all dolled up just to go to the store."
"Whatever. I'll just be a second." Cara said, Her long, raven hair whipping behind her as she quickly turned and disappeared into her room.
Emily plopped herself down on the couch and settled in for one of Cara's infamous "seconds." After a few minutes of hearing nothing but drawers opening and closing and hangers screeching in the closet she heard a loud gasp followed by a "Ew, what the crap?!"
"What's wrong?" Emily asked as she jumped up from the couch and made her way towards Cara's dimly lit bedroom.
"I could have sworn I shaved my legs yesterday morning..."
