The Magic Shop

Sheepish

added by Chimera 12 years ago BM

The sound of the key turning in the door brought Emily back to herself, a furious blush coming to her cheeks. Leigh gave a rueful smile and pulled back to a more innocent position on the couch.

"Some other time, maybe." The punk girl whispered as the door opened, knowing Emily's alert ears would catch it.

Cara's arms were brimming with brown paper bags. Emily had heard it said that you should never go grocery shopping when you were hungry, and Cara had certainly put truth to that. The redhead didn't doubt that they could go through it, the way their appetites were escalating on the way to the full moon, but it still made her laugh a bit.

"What?" Cara asked with a pout. "Okay, maybe I went a little overboard. You don't have to be a brat about it."

"Sorry!" Emily said, choking down laughter. "Just a funny sight, you know?"

"Yeah, well the price for laughing is helping me get these into the fridge."

"Sounds fair," Emily said as she got to her feet, sparing a glance back at Leigh before taking a few bags from her roommate's grasp. She found that Cara had grown much as she had during the night, and a brush against her friend's arm made the sinewy steel behind it more than evident to her touch. Cara's unruly body hair had been tamed, and it seemed that this time it had stayed tamed, though perhaps the brunette's relapse the night before had been more due to her choice in drinks than anything. As well, the hairdresser seemed to have taken the girl's feral features as an asset to be worked with, and the sweeping fall of Cara's newly styled mane rather spoke of a huntress. Emily was impressed.

"Looks like they did a really good job," Emily said as she walked the bags over towards the refrigerator.

"I know! My usual stylist wasn't available on short notice, but I almost think I like this better! It almost made all the waxing worth it."

"Ouch, I hear you."

"So, I guess Leigh wanted to stop over?" Cara said, finally paying notice to the punk girl on the couch.

"Er, yeah. She was just..." Emily said nervously, the blush coming back.

"I was just checking up with you girls after last night. I figured Emily would remember it better than you would." Leigh interrupted, teasing Cara.

"Y-yeah..." Emily said, shaking off the blush again as she packed meat into the freezer and fridge. "We've got pretty good neighbors, huh?"

"Great neighbors, babe." Cara grinned. "Even if I should be a little more careful with drinks I haven't had before."

"Well, we all heard your singing voice at least," Leigh said as she broke into a wolfish grin.

"Augh, don't remind me!" Cara protested, getting a blush herself. "What was I, howling?"

"Nothing wrong with that," Leigh quipped enigmatically. "Girl's gotta howl sometimes..."
