For years gamers have been looking forward to the day when they would hopefully be
able to fully experience a game. Well a new company called Gamer's Dreams has
done just that with their game Dream Life. The heart of this game is the dream hood
which connects under the chin, has a built in sleep mask to block out light, and
electrodes covering the head to pick up electrical impulses from the brain and to send
electrical impulses to the brain. This establishes a connection between the brain and
the computer. The hood comes in wired and wireless forms. Once the program is
started the user can set it to wake them up at a certain time or wake them after a
certain time period has passed. If there is an emergency like a fire the program will
wake the person up immediately. With the program running on their computer the
person places the hood on their head and the program will quickly put the person to
sleep while keeping them lucid. The game is almost indistinguishable from real life
except that there are nekos, anthropomorphic animals, and a host of transformations
not possible in the real world.

You just got the new game Dream Life that you've been wanting. You've heard that it
seems so real that you would think you're still awake. This excites you as you wanted
to explore some fantasies you've had which you would never try exploring while you
were awake. You open the box eagerly and install the game on your computer. Once
you have it running you decide to set it for eight hours. That will give you enough time
to create your avatar and explore the game a bit. You secure the hood and lay down
in your bed feeling yourself drift off to sleep in minutes.
You're in a dark place. You look around yourself though you can't see anything other
than the darkness. Then an office fades into view with a woman leaning against the
desk. "Welcome," she says with a smile. "My name is Anna Goldenrod and I am here
to give you a little tutorial on Dream Life. As you know it's a Massively Multiplayer
Game. There really is no real goal of this game except to have fun with it. There's
something for nearly everyone here. Now time in Dream Life is different from what you
know. For every week here an hour passes in the real world. Time passes whether
you're logged in or not so if you log back in after sixteen hours in the real world sixteen
weeks will have passed in Dream Life so keep this in mind when planning stuff. The
year in Dream Life is 364 days or 52 weeks divided up into 13 months of 28 days or 4
weeks each. The months are; January, February, March, April, May, June, July,
August, September, October, November, December, and Mercedon. As you can see
we added a month on the end. The days are still 24 hours long, each hour is 60
minutes long, and each minute is 60 seconds long. Do you understand so far?"
You nod and say, "It doesn't seem too hard to understand."
"Well then we'll move on," Anna said with a smile. "We're very concerned about
protecting children so there are two levels to the content you could see. The first is
general which everyone can see and go to. Since this level does allow nudity areas
with this level are vigorously monitored to ensure children are not being taken
advantage of. If anyone is found to be taking advantage of a child they are banned
and reported to the police. The second level is adult and that's restricted to 18 and
older. To have access to these areas you need to be 18 or older in real life and your
avatar must also be 18 or older. Do you understand this?"
You sigh and say, "It's not that hard to understand."
Anna smiles and says, "Well we need to make sure you understand all this. Now I can
see that you're..."
