"This is just great." Kyle said sarcastically, "Of all the people to get stuck to..."
"You think I like it any better than you?!" Josh yelled and sat up. "How the hell do we get apart?" Kyle gave Josh a blank look, so he asked again, "Kyle, how do we get apart?"
"How am I suppose to know?!"
"Because it's your dam chain!"
"I just bought it!" Kyle yelled back and pushed on Josh again. The two brothers sat on the dinning room floor with broken glass around them, giving each other death glares. They could feel their anger towards each other mixing inside them, with heat building up, and getting ready to explode at any moment. "This is all your fault." Kyle said softly.
"What?!" Josh turned so his nose was in Kyle's face. "How?!"
"You stole this from me!" Kyle argued, "If you hadn't taken it, we wouldn't be stuck together like this!" Both Kyle and Josh were about to get into a fist fight when there was a sudden bright light.
From out of nowhere the man from the store appeared. "Kyle! Josh! Stop!" The brothers froze and stared at him. "I've been watching you... The two of you never seem to get along, so I thought forcing you to coexist would solve that problem, but it seems I was mistaken."
"Who the hell are you?!" Josh went to take a step forward, but he and Kyle wobbled, so he stayed put.
"That's the guy from the shop!" Kyle sounded relived.
"You can call me Mr.Smith." Mr.Smith said. "As for you two, I can see this gift is wasted."
"Gift?!" Kyle and Josh blurted out in shock. Josh shook his head, "I'm sorry, but being stuck to him is in no way a gift. A curse maybe, but not a gift." Kyle agreed and nodded.
"See?" Mr.Smith sighed, "Wasted..."
"Ok fine, it's wasted on us." Josh looked at Kyle.
"Ya, so take it back!" Kyle looked at Josh and nodded again.
"Ah ha!" Mr.Smith smiled. "I saw that! You've started working together so that I'll stop forcing you to work together! I'm onto your little plan."
Kyle and Josh stared at Mr.Smith, "Well... is there a way we can get ourselves apart?"
"If there was, I wouldn't say anything until after I've seen some more teamwork."
Kyle and Josh glanced at each other, then the floor. The conjoined brothers wobbled through to the kitchen, avoiding the broken glass as best they could, and grabbed the broom. After making their way back to the dinning room, they started sweeping. It wasn't easy for them to coordinate their arm movements, but even the basic back and forth was enough to clean up the glass. After that, they both looked at Mr.Smith expectantly.
"Ok fine, I'll tell you. Seeing how you're only getting along, so you can get apart." Mr.Smith sighed again, and seemed to be lost in his own little world. "It's simple really. The two halves join the two people that wear each of the halves!" With that, Mr.Smith headed to the front door.
"Wait, come back here!" Josh called after him, stumbling along with Kyle. "Ya, That can't be it!"
"Oh but it is!"
"We already knew that though!" Josh was getting angry again.
"We need to know how to get apart!" Kyle could feel Josh's anger, and was fueled by it.
"But I just told you how." Mr.Smith said with a devious smile. "Maybe you weren't listening close enough." He turned and walked out the door as Kyle and Josh made an attempt to stop him, but fell on their faces.
