"This sucks!" Josh groaned as he and Kyle lifted themselves off the floor. They stood up, staring at each other, than at their body. "He didn't help one bit! Useless!"
"Hey, watch it!" Kyle was jerked around as Josh walked back to the kitchen. They stood at the counter and Josh drummed his fingers. "He said we didn't listen carefully enough, what do you think he meant?"
"How am I suppose to know?!" Josh threw up his arm and started walking away again.
"Stop doing that!" Kyle yelled as he struggled to walk with his older brother. "We're stuck TOGETHER. Stop trying to move on your own!" Josh was about to say something, but they heard the front door open. They froze and stared at each other. Who was it? Was someone breaking in? Or was is their dad? And if it was their dad, what would happen if he saw them like this? All those questions passed between them without saying a word. Moving as one, they ran to the hall to see who it was.
Owen stepped through the door and didn't bother taking off his shoes. "Kyle? Josh? It's just me. I forgot my wallet. Did you guys eat yet?" Josh and Kyle were hiding in the kitchen around the corner, paralyzed with fear. "Guys?! Where are..." Owen looked down and saw half of the eagle chain on the floor. "Hey what's this? Looks like and eagle."
Kyle and josh stared at each other with horror. Josh's half of the chain was missing. "It must have come off when we fell." He whispered.
Without knowing, or thinking, Owen put the chain around his neck and smiled, "Looks good one me." But around the corner Josh and Kyle's body jerked, and started to walk, and head down the hall. Owen saw them out of the corner of his eye, so he turned to great them. "Oh there you boys are, how's... it... going..." Owen's jaw hit the floor at the sight before him.
Before anyone could talk, Kyle and Josh started to separate. At first they were happy. They were coming apart, and glad to be doing so. But almost as soon as they were apart, Kyle and Owen were being pulled together. Once they were close enough, their bodies started to merge, the same way Kyle and Josh had earlier.
"What the hell?!" Owen yelled.
Kyle stared at Josh, "That's what he meant! Who ever wears the chains becomes fused together!"
"Dad is wearing half, and you were still wearing your half, so you guys fused!" Josh sounded happy at finding the solution.
"Ok, again, what the hell?!" Owen was staring from one of his sons to the other. Kyle and Josh gave a brief run down of what had happened, and why he was now stuck to Kyle. "Oh, so from my understanding..." Owen quickly took the chain from his neck, and threw it over Josh's head. With in seconds, Owen and Kyle split apart, then Josh and Kyle fused back together.
"Hey!" the two brother growled, having found themselves back together.
"I have to go to work." Owen grabbed his wallet and was heading out the door. "Besides, the two of you could learn to get along that way."
