No matter what Dana's plan to create a Ninjatta of love, first it would be necessary to carry out Astara's mission to examine girlworld and its defenses.
Maneuvering for a specific goal in the world of chaos was less a matter of oonceiving and carrying out a rational plan--that never worked--than following instincts and intuitions and allowing the world of chaos to form itself around your goals. Dana had been here before many times, and had some idea how to do it.
Of course, much of her effort went into keeping her own body, of which she had grown rather fond, stable. She had learned how to avoid the major distortion patches and transformation waves, but it was a difficult problem.
And then there were the dangerous denizens of the world of chaos, many so maddened by constant chaos and transformation as to be unreachable.
Dana's senses had to be constantly aware of danger. She heard a bellowing, growing in volume, and coming up behind her to her right. She wheeled and drew her sword--missile weapons tended to be useless in the world of chaos--to face an enraged minotaur like beast charging. Dana noticed that the beast had bits of scales and feathers along with fur, and that one horn ended in the head of a fish. Who knew what it had been originally?
Dana caught the formation of a distortion bubble out of the corner of her eye, ducked and rolled so as to position herself with the rapidly growing bubble between her and the minotaur. The thing wheeled, and charged right through the bubble.
It stumbled, and its legs merged into one. The joined legs softened, their surface smoothed, and the minotaur/monster's legs had been replaced by something resembling the foot of a slug. It continued to crawl towards Dana, but she could easily outdistance it at a walk.
The bubble was another problem, but as it moved away it popped, leaving a gate.
Dana checked the harmonics. Yep. She plunged through the temporary gate, into (she hoped) girlworld.
