Sarah stroked her new phone. It was a hot item, and she was glad she had finally gotten her parents to pay for one. She called her best friend Megan.
"Hi Megan! I got a cool new smartphone!"
"Great! What apps does it have?"
Sarah scratched herself. Something was itching.
"A ton! And some I've never heard of before. There's a whole bunch of them called 'spells' like they're magic or something."
Sarah's shoes felt very tight. She was bending down to remove them when she felt them ripping. That was odd, but her feet felt a lot better.
"Are you getting a cold? Your voice sounds a lot deeper."
"No, I feel fine." And Sarah realized she did feel fine--in fact a surge of strength was running through her body. Her clothes were coming apart as her shoulders broadened.
"In fact I gotta go." Sarah added to her friend. "I'm starving!"
Sarah headed to the food court. It seemed a lot nearer, as it took many fewer steps to arrive there than she was used to. By the time she arrived her clothing was in shreds, and she was about six and a half feet tall.
"Fourteen cheeseburgers." she ordered.
"Uh, yes, ma'am?" answered the clerk. "You want fries with that?"
"Yes, two bucketsful." Sarah belched. It felt good. "And a diet coke."
"Coming right up!"
"Look mommy a monster!" said a small girl. "Hush, it's not nice to call people monsters." answered her mother.
Sarah wondered who they were talking about.
Sarah devoured her order in five minutes. Something felt different, she wasn't sure what. But she did know she had to go check out this hot guy named "Chuck."
