It began when I made her clothes disappear

"Just what do you have in mind?" I asked.

"Joe," she paused and said, "Hmmm, I guess it's just "J-O" now. Jo, I have some issues with the way men are. So we're going to improve that."

"How?" I asked.

"By changing men into women, of course!" she exclaimed.

"Tabitha," I said, standing up quickly. "You don't know what you're dealing with here."

"Oh, on the contrary, Jo," she interrupted. "I know exactly what I'm dealing with. I've seen what it did to me, and more importantly to you, so I know this will work. Now come on before I have to wish you to listen to me."

"There's just one problem," I said. "I don't have any clothes."

She laughed. "Well you wished for no one to notice I was naked, so I'm sure it will work with you too."

"But wait," I said. "I wished that only I would know you were naked. So how come you realized it?"

She didn't have an answer for that one. "Maybe because you lost control of the ring?" she said.

"If that's true," I said, "then people will know you're naked."

"But I wish that no one but the two of us will realize we're both naked," she said. "There, happy now?"

I shot her a nasty look. "Our relationship has not started out well," I said.

"And you've got no one to blame but yourself for that one," she said. "Now let's go."

I was really mad. I was still very much attracted to her, but I couldn't even tell anymore if that was because of the wish I made or not. My body was telling me it wanted her. My mind wasn't so sure of that.

As we walked out of her apartment, what really bothered me was how she knew she was naked. If her theory was right, that somehow the effect of my wish was voided, how come I didn't change back to myself? There was something about the ring that neither of us fully understood yet, I thought. Something about this ring could still spell trouble for someone, probably us.

We stepped back out into the afternoon sunlight. "Where to?" I asked.

"Let's just walk around for a few minutes," Tabitha said. "I'm sure we'll find someone soon enough." We walked down the street, Tabitha looking up and down the street for our first victim. I, however, was only thinking about how to get the ring back from her.
