Jeff shook himself, pulling to his senses. He wasn't a dog! He had to change back. With a great deal of trouble, he climbed the stairs, clumsily falling on each step. His tiny body was exhausted when he reached the top, and he struggled into his old room. It looked just the same, though it was a little dusty, and several boxes were stacked up.
As he padded over to the computer, he heard a voice shout him.
"Jeff! We have your daddy here to see you!"
Jeff turned around, tail wagging, and expected to see his dad enter. But instead, his mum guided in Bancho, the huge alsation. Jeff was immediately licked and nuzzled by the larger dog, and could not help but enjoy the attention from what was, technically, his biological father.
Forgetting his task for a moment, he bit and play-wrestled Bancho for what seemed like hours, rolling around and being licked and petted. Eventually, the older dog curled up and let him be, and Jeff forced himself to focus. He pushed his nose into the power button on his laptop, and climbed slowly up each drawer on his desk one by one, climbing panting onto his desk. He padded over to the keyboard and watched as it loaded up. By a stroke of luck, it opened onto the Chronivac's screen, the last thing the computer was used for.
It had been a long and weird adventure, but finally it was over. Slowly, he pushed the buttons one by one with his paw. Scan and find the previous target. Change target into human teen, using the settings from the default made all those months ago. Most importantly, change reality to fit. He didn't want his parents to remember losing their son for three months.
Jeff paused at 'change subject's mind to fit'. Being a puppy had been pretty fun...but it would probably be best to forget the whole thing. It was just too weird. He set up the program, and with only the slightest hesitation, pushed execute.
Jeff waited. Then waited some more. He didn't feel a thing; shouldn't it have started by now?
He heard a whine from behind him, and turned to look. On the floor, Bancho was wriggling and whimpering. The chronivac had scanned for what was left of the old target...and the closest thing was what the old target's body had been absorbed into. Bancho.
The alsation stretched and rolled around as his fur loosened and fell off, falling to the ground and disappearing. He was left pink and hairless, and he clumsily pawed at his body as it cracked and reshaped. His forepaws lengthened, claws shrinking away as a thumb moved forward and grew longer, fingers growing more dexterous as his paws became hands. He jumped up onto his hind legs as they shifted, hindpaws flattening into feet, tail shrinking and pulling in.
Standing firm on two legs, Bancho grew taller and taller, becoming human sized as his muzzle shortened and his ears became rounder, teeth flattening and blunting. His nose lightened into flesh as he raised a hand, touching his human face in shock. Human hair grew from the top of his head as Bancho's eyes lightened into intelligent human ones. He blinked for a moment, his memories shifting and altering, then shivered all over, moaning in discomfort.
A moment passed, and the dust and boxes in the room shivered and vanished. Bancho opened his eyes and yawned, looking down at his naked body.
"Oh crap, I need to get dressed!"
Humming quietly, Bancho pulled on Jeff's clothing, then moved over and picked up the puppy, hugging him tight.
"Hi little Jeff. Hey, what are you doing on my computer? You're not allowed there little guy, you might break it. I'll have to make sure you stay away from it."
Jeff was stunned with shock. He was still a puppy; and next door neighbor's dog had just taken over his life.
