"Hey, this isn't fair!" Josh moaned. He and Owen had struggle to the bed, as Owen was exhausted from work, and just wanted to sleep.
"No, what's not fair, is you sticking Kyle to someone else." Owen pull off his sock and threw it near the door. "All I asked, was that you two try and get along, and that I would take someones place when I got home. But seeing how you've probably been by yourself since I left, it only seems FAIR to give Kyle a break."
"Whatever..."
"You can be angry with me all you want, and feel like you don't deserve this. But I'm really disappointed in you." Owen shifted around so he and Josh were now laying on the bed. "I was really hoping you could suck it up, be the bigger man, and stay attached to your little brother. But when I saw him just now, with that other boy. I saw their clothing all ripped, dirt and mud covering them, and a bruise or two. So I'm guessing he hasn't had an easy night, meanwhile you've been up here doing your usual stuff."
"If you're trying to make me feel bad, it's not working." Josh rolled onto his side, and stuffed his face into his pillow.
"Josh, we're connected, in such a way that I can feel what you feel." Owen rolled them over onto his side and covered them with the blanket. "And you might not know this, but what we're feeling right now, is guilt."
Josh growled, rolled them onto their back, and kicked of the blanket that covered him. "Maybe it's just your own guilt, for leaving us like that, knowing that we'd sooner kill each other rather than stay fused."
Owen didn't say anything. Instead he rolled over onto Josh's side, and had nowhere else to put his head except on josh's. He threw the blanket back over them and let out a sigh, "Good night."
"Can you get off me?" Josh pushed Owen's head away, and started kicking off the blanket again.
"No I can not. We are fused to each other, Josh." Owen and Josh started to wrestle with the blanket, tossed and turned and almost fell out of the bed once or twice. "You had a choice before, and cheated. So now you have to deal with the consequences. Me."
"That's not fair!" Josh yelled.
"Too bad Josh. You know the rules, once we're together like this, we can't come apart. And just so you can't do to me what you did the Kyle..." Owen grabbed both halves of the chain, and threw them across the room into the corner. He turned to Josh and smiled, "There, now you won't be able to grab them without me knowing. Good night."
Josh would have protested, but he saw that Owen was already asleep. He wasn't sure what to do. He wasn't tired yet, but he couldn't move without his dad. All he could do, was think about what Owen had said, until he too drifted off to sleep.
