Fredrika and Emma absolutely hated their high school. And with good reason. The place was run down and crawling with rival gangs. Every morning before class, Fredrika would open her locker to put away her backpack, only to find some red paint flecks had come off in her hand. Emma, being the concerned friend she is, offered to handle her locker-opening duties. "Don't worry, Fredrika!" she always said. "I would gladly risk paint poisoning in order to protect you!" Kind of dramatic, but Fredrika let her do it - secretly, she freaks out a little when her hands or anyplace else get dirty.
One thing that was never a secret was Fredrika's tendency to think outside the box and act on ideas before anyone could tell her to consider the consequences. One day, after getting hustled by her lunch money by someone who obviously wasn't going to use it to buy lunch, she demonstrated her tendency by turning to her friend and saying, "We have to transfer schools, Emma. I literally can't survive in this dank hole for much longer."
Emma ignored the improper usage of 'literally' and asked, "Great idea as usual, Fredrika, but where would we ever go? We have no wheels."
Fredrika answered quickly. "They have a travel agency over to the strip mall that has a collection of alternate universe portals. We could go to school in an actual cartoon! Isn't that totes sweet?" Emma nodded her head yes, for it was indeed totes sweet. After school, they hustled it to ToonWorld so fast that I didn't have time to type the stuff they did in between.
After crossing through the portal, they saw an information booth staring them in the face. Fredrika looked surprised when she saw that it was actually staring them in the face, with two giant googly eyes! She then re-encouraged herself and walked up to the booth to speak to the lady receptionist.
"I was wondering if you had any schools or educational facilities here. My school is a rundown wreck, and this might be my only other option!"
The lady smiled and pulled out a small sheet of paper, that soon unfolded into a terribly LONG sheet of paper. She said, "Since a large margin of cartoons star children or teenagers, we have an abundance of educational buildings. Take a look!"
Emma, who was sitting on a bench before it decided to sprout legs and run away, walked up to the booth and suggested, "Careful about which one you choose, Fredrika! Some of these might have infestations of aliens or demons or monsters, or maybe even sadistic teachers!" Fredrika seeked out some names that looked interesting.
There was a school for ghouls, Hanging Vine High, one with a Japanesey name she couldn't pronounce, and just about every other toon setting she could think up. After studying the list in silence, she stood up and said, "This one is perfect!! Arrange a transfer for me and her right away!!!" as she pointed to...
