Fredrika pointed to the strangely-titled This Is a Really Good Prep School for Hastily Drawn Ladies and said, "I have to know what this is! Don't even tell me, I just have to see for myself. Take me there, fanservice girl!" The receptionist told them, "Just a moment, please. I have to contact the school and see if there are some openings for two lovely teenage girls." She pushed a button on her console, brought up her TV comm, and dialed up the secretary. The head staring back at them was a red nub with a grin going all the way across her face, and just two gray haired pigtails at the sides. "Thfanks for dialing Th'fun thkool for the tecthbook marzhin drawing lady whatever, I'm working for minimum waijth, how may I be thniphy ath you today?", she lisped, spit drops flying out her mouth.
"Well, Mrs. Minimum Waijth, I have two young ladies who want to enroll in your..."
"Yeth, emphadically yeth, anything to get to Harlequin and Mimotha reading and drinkhh-khhh-(koff)-king, rethpectif'ly, time fathter!" the secretary interrupted.
Neither Fredrika nor Emma could figure out what she was actually saying, or what kind of creature she was in the first place, or what "mimotha" was, for that matter. They didn't have much time to think, though, as the receptionist pushed another button on her console, and the ground underneath them started to move. Emma clutched her friend's leg as the sidewalk accelerated to uncomfortably fast speeds, almost making the girls fly backwards. After experiencing a G force or three, the sidewalk stopped moving in front of a bright green doodle-looking building that looked extremely out of place compared to its surroundings. Fredrika wasted no time in running inside, with Emma trailing behind.
The interior of the building was like something out of an Impressionist painting. None of the perspectives lined up right, and strange posters of real life people lined the walls. Fredrika recognized one of the portraits as Jack Hues from Wang Chung. 'No one's cared about them for years', she thought. 'Why would his picture be hung in the halls of a fancy private school, in a world where everyone is a cartoon?' Emma was similarly confused by a movie poster for Dream a Little Dream 2 starring the two Coreys of the 80's. She came to the conclusion that "we are in a hipster cartoon! It's one half pop culture references and the other half irreverent nonsense." Newly enlightened, the two went to find the headmaster to get themselves situated.
The hallway to the headmaster's office was at once marvelously embellished and scribbled by a two years old boy. Fredrika read the plaque "ARE FOUNDER", wondering if it was supposed to be a joke or just stupid, and decided to go in anyway. Standing behind the desk was a giant hastily drawn barely lady with four wings, one on the front, back, and each side, and four legs ending in sloppy ovals. Even her colors seemed to bleed outside the lines a bit. She peered down at the intimidated girls and said, "Hi! I'm This Is a Really Good Character. Are you both new here?" Her voice was much sweeter than her presence.
Fredrika answered, "We're new, yes. We're hoping to become a part of this fine establishment. You got space for us?"
The monstrosity smiled brightly and said, "We could always use more girls! Just put on these school uniforms and let me do all the paperwork. 'Kay?"
The uniforms were blue and brown striped dresses, but they certainly didn't look like they would ever fit. They were shaped more like traffic cones than anything wearable, and Emma's didn't have any arm holes. This Is a Really Good Character reassured them that "if you go into the changing room and try them on, you'll find they fit perfectly well!"
