After Kat fell asleep, Dan snuck out of the house. It was difficult because he could not get his hands to work right. But he still had human
intelligence so with patience, Dan was eventually able to open the door. He snuck into the garage and picked up the keys to his car on the way.
Dan wondered about the magic spell since everything Dan had still existed. Why weren't his parents wondering where Dan was? Kat's spell
caused everyone to think of Dan as a dog but what did they think about Dan's bedroom, his clothes, his trophies, or his car?
Dan got into his car but he was smaller now and it was more difficult to drive. He could still reach the pedals and he could see so he could
drive, and he had to drive. He had to get as far away from Kat as he could.
He was glad his car was quiet. He managed to drive away without alerting his family. He hoped he could just sneak out to the middle of
nowhere and then figure out what to do from there. But it didn't take long for the police to notice him. Dan tried to flee but the police were on
him too fast. So he pulled over hoping he could explain to the officers about his witch sister and the spell she cast on him.
Dan thought it strange though how the officers dealt with the situation. Even though Dan had pulled over, a cop pulled in front of him and
another pulled behind him so that his car couldn't go anywhere. Then an officer carefully opened the driver's side door and turned off the
engine. None of the cops pulled their guns.
Dan barked, "Please help me. Officer protect me. I'm in danger."
The officer patted Dan on the head and said, "Good doggy. You're such a nice dog. How'd you wind up in the driver's seat of this runaway car."
Dan continued barking but the police continued to treat him like he was just an innocent dog. They took Dan by the collar and led him to the
back of a police car and drove Dan to the dog pound.
The cage at the dog pound was just a fence but it was high enough that Dan couldn't escape. The magic spell Kat had cast made him unable to
manipulate locks like a human. He looked human, although he had been shrunk to the size of a beagle. But everyone else saw him as a dog
and he physically could not do some human skills anymore as those had been replaced by dog skills.
He paced back and forth in his cage wondering what would happen when Kat arrived.
