As you drive your car over to your friend Jamie's house, you can't help but wonder what his big news is. It had apparently been something he was dying to tell you, but couldn't until now. You couldn't help but wonder if it was bad news. You hoped it wasn't.
It was the middle of summer and you were both out of school at the moment. As you pull up to the house, you notice his folks aren't home. You breathe a sigh of relief, turn off the car and walk up to the front door. You ring the door bell and Jamie, a blond haired, skinny guy, with some muscle definition, quickly answers the door.
"Hey buddy, come on in," he says as he opens the door and steps aside to let you in.
You kick off your shoes and follow him into the living room.
"So, what's up?" you ask, anxious to get right down to it.
Jamie paces the room as you sit down on the couch.
"It's not that easy to say," he replies.
"Try me," you say, trying to be encouraging.
"Well, I'm...a witch." he says.
"What?" is all you can muster in response.
"Well, I was hoping for a better response than that," he replied, looking disappointed.
"I'm sorry," you say, "I just wasn't expecting that. You mean, like Wiccan?"
"No, I mean like a real potion making, spell casting witch!" he responded.
"Yeah, right. I don't believe you," you respond. "You've finally gone completely loopy."
You get up and head for the front door, shaking your head in disbelief.
"I'll prove it to you!" he calls out, sounded desperate.
"How?" you respond, turning back to him.
"I'll turn you into something," he responds.
"What makes you think I'd want to be turned into something?" you respond.
"I've seen those stories you posted on that one site. You even used your own name...good writing, man. I just had no idea you had those kinds of fantasies. Granted, not nearly as messed up as some things on there..." he said.
"Yeah, well, everyone has their kinks, I guess," you respond, feeling a little embarrassed.
"But that's part of the reason I told you. I would like to help make some of those fantasies come true for you," he said.
"Really?" you respond.
"Yeah. My mom said I really needed to work on my transformation spells this summer. I asked if I could do them on you, saying you were always the most open minded of my friends, and might be more receptive to it than others, and she said yes."
"Cool," you respond.
Jamie gestures for you to follow him into the dining room, where you find open on the table a very old, very large book.
"This is my family's book of spells. I've got it open to the section on transformation spells now, so we can flip through here and see if there's something you might like to turn into. Mom said we have to wait for night if you want to do something really big, like a dragon, so we should start small for now..."
"I could turn into a dragon?!" you exclaim. "That'd be so cool."
"Yeah, it would, but we should start with something more manageable first," he replied. "Anything here look good?"
You flip through the pages, which vary from a wide variety of animals all the way to mythical creatures and beyond.
"Well, I always wanted to be..." you reply.
