I thought of all the things I could do with the device. The the possible uses of the Chronivac were so vast that I couldn't possibly choose what to do on my own. I decided to call my two best friends, Dan and Mike.
I knew Dan since second grade and Mike joined us a year later. The number of common interests we shared made us spend most of our time together. We played computer games together, we discussed fantasy books together, we watched the same movies and tv-series, and recently more and more talked about girls or maybe about their lack of interest in us. I couldn't imagine not sharing the Chronivac with them.
I grabbed my mobile, called them and in less than 15 minutes here they were knocking at my door.
"Hi Jeff! C'mon show us what is this 'surprise' you were talking about!" shouted Mike, impatient as always
"Yeah Jeff... Show us!" Dan supported his friend "You were quite mysterious over the phone... What can it be? You haven't gotten yourself a girlfriend, have you?"
"No, no nothing like that... Besides, how could I manage to hide something like that from you two? But come upstairs to my room and I'll show you!"
And I showed them. I told them about the strange website I came across, about the 'testing scheme' it offered and finally about the Chronivac's arrival and what it was supposed to be capable of.
"Yeah, and basically I thought I should start testing it with you both..." I finished.
There was a longish pause in which both of my comrades looked at each other with disbelief. Finally Mike spoke.
"Dude if what you're claiming this thing is capable of doing is true then... Well that's quite cool. No... Actually that's mega-hyper-cool! Imagine all the things we can do with it! Just what do we do first. To be honest I don't really feel like being a guinea pig for this experiment..."
"Me neither..."
"And me."
We all had similar personalities. We were definitely cowards. I thought that maybe that's why girls don't like us... And this very thought gave me an interesting idea.
"Guys," I broke the silence "We don't have to transform. Why don't we transform someone else? Like... We could make some girl form our class a perfect girlfriend for us. The one that will want to stay with us and maybe even... Offer something more?.. You know what I mean... We are teenage boys and we need... some release."
Both Dan and Mike looked at me. I could see approval in their eyes.
"Ok, so who do we transform?"
"It doesn't matter now, we choose the subject at the end, we can decide later. The thing is how do we deal with designing our perfect girlfriend."
Dan was the first to come up with an idea.
"Why don't we split it in categories? Let me design her personality and behavior, Mike will design her bodyshape and you can take everything else."
"Well... It does sound like a plan. Ok let's start! I want to see the effect today, not in a thousand years!"
And the design process begun.
