After dinner, Jen went back up to her room and began rummaging through the package. Laying all the items
out on the bed, Jen sifted through them one at a time. They didn't look like much. Two rings, an old watch, a
matched pair of necklaces, a medallion, a cd, and a test tube filled with a liquid that kept changing color.
But if the remote was anything to go by, appearances were deceiving. Jen picked up the manual and began
flipping through it, skimming each entry. Deciding that the manual could only tell her so much, she reached
down and picked up one of the rings. It was small and plain looking, except for the small dull colored stone
set in the band. Looking through the manual, she found a picture of the ring under the title "Ring of Three"
and read through the entry on the page.
Ring of Three
The ring of three allows the wearer to make any change they desire, mental or physical, to the target person using a three word description. To use, place the ring on your right index finger, rub the stone three times, point your finger at the target, then say the three word command. Target will be forced to comply with the command, be it a transformation, action, or alteration. Like all Spells R' Us products, the Ring of Three is equipped with our patented reality alteration spell. After a short period of time, reality will automatically adjust so that none but the user remember the changes made using the Ring of Three. This is done for the users protection.
Warning: Frequent use of the ring may temporarily overtax the spell, leaving the wearer exposed to possible discovery and repercussions.
Jen had just finished reading when the family cat sauntered into her room. She had never particularly liked
their cat Jinks, always having been more of a dog person, but her sisters had overridden her. Smiling
mischievously, Jen decided that it was time for a change. Pointing the ring at the orange tabby at her feet,
she rubbed the stone and said "Become a dog." Jinks recoiled and arched his back suddenly, as if he felt
threatened by the accusing finger pointed in his direction. As he did, his tail flicked back and forth warily.
However, after a few flicks Jen noticed that Jinks seemed to be having a little trouble curling and uncurling
his tail. Before long, the cats tail was locked rigid except at the base. As it wagged back and forth, the
short orange hair on it began to get longer and bushier, lightening to a rich golden color. As the fur across
his body began to change hue, Jinks began growing, his body thickening and his libs lengthening until he was a
t least four times as large as he had been. His short muzzle elongated as whiskers disappeared and his tongue
began lolling out of his mouth. His ears went from short and painted to long and floppy, and his mews of
discomfort became nervous whimpers. Jen reached down and petted Jinks the golden retriever, who promptly
forgot his confusion and began to lick her hand affectionately.
Having tried out the ring, Jen decided that the next item she would try would be...
