Rick looked at the die and waited for some sort of transformation to happen. He waited for maybe five minutes and when he still didn't transform he said, "Looks like it doesn't work." He sighed as he looked at the list again and read what 18 was. "Hmm, transform into a human," he said in a low tone thinking to himself. "Maybe the reason I didn't transform is because I'm already human."
He was still thinking it over and becoming more convinced that his theory was right when the phone rang. Picking it up he heard his friend Dan's voice saying, "Yes I'll ask him."
"Hi Dan," Rick said with a smile. "What did you want to ask me?"
"Oh Glenda and I were wondering if you wanted to do something."
"Sure come on over," Rick said with a smile. "I just got something we could do."
"Ok we'll be over soon," Dan said.
Rick hung up the phone and decided to put on some sweats. Half an hour later there was a knock on the door and he let Dan and Glenda in. "So what do you have for us to do?" Dan asked.
Rick picked up the die and said, "We could play a game with this."
"A game with one die," Glenda said skeptically. "That doesn't sound like much fun."
"Actually this die is suppose to transform whoever rolls it," Rick said getting a little excited.
"What are you smoking?" Dan asked clearly not believing him. "A die can not transform anyone. It's physically impossible."
"I know it sounds ridiculous but the die did appear out of thin air," Rick said trying to open them to the possibility.
"Did you see it appear?" Dan asked.
"I didn't see it but I heard it hit the table," Rick said knowing that it was going to take transforming in front of them for them to believe him.
"You probably had the die and you just thought you heard it hit the table," Glenda said shaking her head.
Rick sighed and said, "I guess the only way to prove it is to transform in front of you." He started taking off the sweats he was wearing.
"What are you doing?" Glenda asked as he took off the pants revealing that he wasn't wearing any underwear.
"Apparently your clothes don't change when you transform so I'm taking them off," Rick said with a shrug.
"What do you mean apparently?" Dan asked.
"Well that's what the note said," Rick said shrugging. Before they could ask what note he was talking about he handed them the note.
After reading it Dan asked, "So did you already transform and roll a nineteen to alter reality?"
"I've only rolled it once and it came up eighteen," Rick said.
"It says that rolling an eighteen transforms you into a human," Glenda said looking at the note. "Why aren't you different if you rolled that?"
"I think that because I'm already human it didn't transform me," Rick said picking up the die again.
"Well let's see if this actually works then," Dan said looking about ready to laugh.
Rick took a deep breath and rolled the die for a second time. Time seemed to stop as the die bounced and rolled to a stop. What number did it stop on?
